[email protected]

My name is Lisa Parsons. I am a native English speaker, born and educated in England. I have eight years’ experience working with Pre-school children in England, and a further eight years here in Phuket at HeadStart International School. I feel privileged to be one of the longest standing members of staff at HeadStart International School, having been with this school since its early beginnings. My family and I have lived in Thailand for nine years. My two children have been educated at HeadStart International School for the past eight years. I am very pleased with their academic progress and social development. We all enjoy the lifestyle here. Personally, I feel happy to share this unique experience of living and working on this beautiful island together with my family. The Pre-school programme for your children will focus on creating a step by step, guided, fun, caring and safe learning environment. The children will be motivated to participate in all learning activities through gentle encouragement, which helps them to become more confident and prepares them for their educational journey of discovery and learning. They will learn social skills through play and interacting with other children. Outdoor learning will stimulate their senses, and develop their coordination and awareness of the outside world. The Pre-school programme encourages children to speak basic English and explore basic numeracy through group learning and one to one activities. Communication is key to the success of your child’s education please feel free to contact me with any queries you have about your child’s learning. I look forward to spending time with your children while they learn in Pre-school.

Alma Oliva

Deputy
[email protected]

My name is Alma G. Oliva, born in Masbate Philippines. I am married and blessed with three children. I gained the degree of Bachelor of Arts Major in English at Mountain View, Valencia, Bukidnon, Philippines. My first job was working with the little ones and this inspired me to specialise and teach young children. Singing and playing musical instruments are my favourite hobbies. I believe in a saying that says “In this world nothing is constant, everything keeps on changing” especially in the field of teaching. As a teacher, we should not stop learning; we should make ourselves well-equipped with knowledge, for we will be passing that knowledge on to our students. I served as a Kindergarten, Primary and Secondary teacher in Private schools in the Philippines for 9 years. I first came to Thailand in April 2007. Initially I worked in Bangkok as a Primary and Secondary Music teacher at Sunflower Trilingual School. Then I moved to Phuket and got a job at HeadStart International School as Deputy Teacher in Preschool, Reception and Year 2. I’ve been working in this school for six years. At present, I am working as Deputy Teacher in Preschool with Miss Lisa Parson. I wish that the school will have more success this year and in the years to come with harmonious relationships between teachers and parents, as we work together to help our students to achieve their dreams.

Deputy

Hi, my name is Novelyn P. Salvan. I graduated from Mountain View college with the degree of Bachelor in Elementary Education Philippines. I have ongoing master of arts in teaching major in Early Childhood Education. It has been a great pleasure to be a part of the preschool team in this institution. And it's a great opportunity to have a direct observation to the young learners learning progress individually. It helps me to understand more the development of each child; physically, mentally, socially and emotionally. As I observe, each child has its own levels of learning progress and that is a challenging work of being a part of a team.
