My name is Sam Bushell and I am from South-East London, in the UK. Last year I completed my NQT year, in an outer London school and taught a wide range of children from varying social backgrounds and activities, as well as being the lead teacher for football in the school. I studied at the University of Brighton and graduated with a First Class Honours degree. During one of my summer holidays from University, I went to an International Sports Camp in America for 5 months. My role was an outdoor activities instructor, camp counsellor and sports coach. My university lecturers founded a charity called ‘Football4Peace’ in which their aim was to utilise sport and football to create social changes. I got involved with the organisation and was trained with the ‘Football4Peace’ methodology and travelled to Gambia for two weeks of coaching local children. A challenging, but extremely rewarding experience. From my teaching experiences and studies, I believe that PE is a holistic subject, and that there is an activity for everyone to enjoy. I love sharing my expertise and knowledge with my students to enable them to lead healthy lifestyles. I am delighted to have been given a job here at HeadStart, the PE facilities are the best I’ve ever seen and I can’t wait to contribute to the department and school.
