Reception B

My background is in Dance and New Media (computer-based image-and-sound manipulation, and film making). I gained a First Class Honour’s Degree in Contemporary Arts, specializing in Dance and New Media, and then went on to work in the UK with a Regional Dance Agency in which I taught and facilitated dance (Ballet and Contemporary) in a wide variety of community and educational settings to people of all ages and abilities. In 2007 I gained my PGCE with a focus on teaching Early Years and subsequently taught for my first year as a Home Room Teacher in East London, and for my second year in Spain. I then returned to London to teach and gain a CELTA (TEFL) Certificate. After qualifying I spent two months travelling around Thailand and Cambodia, and completed a short period of teaching in Bangkok before moving to Phuket to join the HeadStart team.

Having a background in the Arts, I teach with a focus on facilitating the students to be innovative; to think creatively in order to help them to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. I also like to encourage the students to enjoy their own and others’ work, where appropriate, so that they become more comfortable and confident in their learning and social interactions. Because I work with very young children who are at the beginning of their educational life, I feel my most important role is to teach with fun and excitement; to allow the students to love learning.

I am thrilled to be part of the HeadStart team and am enjoying teaching in this growing school, in such a beautiful part of the world.
