English as an Additional Language (EAL)

My name is Kim Sparrow, and I come from Zimbabwe, Africa. I graduated from Rhodes University in South Africa with a Bachelor of Arts in English Linguistics and Psychology, as well as a PGCE Teaching Diploma, with distinction. I have taught a range of age groups, in a variety of countries around the world, gaining irreplaceable professional and personal development.

I came to Thailand to build on this experience, and was lucky enough to become part of the HeadStart team. The opportunity to experience language in diverse environments has simply confirmed my passion for words, the power they possess, and the beauty they bring to the world. “Language is the heart and soul into which thoughts run and out of which they grow.” One of the most rewarding parts of teaching is being able to instill and nurture both a love and understanding of the English language.

As a teacher my aim is to equip my students with the necessary tools of language to become independent, inquisitive, confident and inspirational beings. The vibrant and curious minds of the students at HeadStart make these aims a reality, and teaching a pleasure.
