Year 4B

My name is Lindsay Benner and I am very excited to be the year 4B teacher at HeadStart International School. I am Canadian and grew up in a small town called Summerland. I went to the University of Victoria in Canada where I earned my Bachelor of Education degree in 2006. After I graduated I moved to Nottingham, UK where I taught for five years as a year 3 and 4 teacher in an inner-city school. I gained valuable experience working with children from varying backgrounds and ethnicities.

I have a passion for travelling and in the summer of 2010 I travelled throughout Thailand and Southeast Asia. Since then, I have been back to Thailand four times and I made a decision to continue my teaching career here in Phuket where I can experience the Thai culture and lifestyle while doing what I love – teaching.

Every student enters the classroom with past experiences, strengths, goals and dreams. When students walk through the doors of my classroom they will engage in meaningful experiences that will help them flourish and become life-long learners. I recognise individuality and will strive to meet the needs of all students and ensure that each child knows they are valued members of my class. I believe in building a community of responsible learners and I am committed to creating a safe, challenging and positive learning environment.
