Year 5B

I was born on the east coast of South Africa to a loving couple that emigrated from Italy many years ago and was educated at the same school as my mother, in the little town of Umkomaas. I graduated from high school in 1995 and then attended Edgewood College of Education for four years and achieved a Higher Diploma in Secondary Education, majoring in Physical Education and Technical Drawing.

It was not until 2004, after a little travelling and life experience, when I decided to finally take up teaching, starting in Thailand. As an ESL teacher, I taught all levels of children in Thai government schools in Phuket. At the end of that year, I moved back to Cambridge, England, where I worked as a girls’ PE, Health and Social Care and year 9 Home room teacher at John Bunyan School in Bedford. Being a hopeless addict of the ocean, sunshine, great food and beautiful smiles, it was no surprise that I did not last very long in the UK and returned to Thailand in October 2006, and have remained here ever since.

I have been extremely fortunate to have had quite a few teaching positions in Phuket in various Thai government and international schools, teaching mainly English, PE and music at all levels.

Music has always been a large part of my life and I have worked as a semi-professional musician for 16 years. My love for music has assisted me immensely in the world of teaching and I am so grateful to be able to use it as an essential tool of my teaching philosophies, along with sustainable living and kindness to all living things. I love working with young minds, I adore the honesty, simplicity and energy of children but, most of all, teaching gives me a wonderful sense of freedom.

I am absolutely delighted to be a part of this team and can’t wait to get to know the staff, students and parents of HeadStart.
