Year 11

My name is Mark Nini and I am from Hamilton Township, New Jersey in the U.S.A. I graduated from Rowan University in Glassboro, New Jersey with a Bachelors degree in Mathematics. I have been teaching internationally for 11 years and teaching secondary mathematics on Phuket for seven years in government schools.

Prior to attending university, I was an Engineering Technician in the Department of Transportation for the state of New Jersey. Here I was a draftsman responsible for drawingstate highway and roads resurfacing plans along with bridge repair contracts. Following this I enrolled in university and chose mathematics as my major. After graduation I was employed by Barnesandnoble.com as a Special orders supervisor. Here I designed and implemented an innovative book ordering system that is still used today.

In the year 2000 I moved to Seoul, South Korea and began teaching ESL in English language schools and eventually in Korean government schools. This gave me valuable classroom experience to be able to teach what I really wanted – Mathematics. I love mathematics and believe that it is an extremely important skill that all students need to possess to excel in their academic studies. Mostly all of the students that I taught mathematics my first year in Phuket, have now moved on to the University level and are doing very well. To watch students succeed and exceed expectations is a wonderfully fulfilling part of being a teacher!
