Jennifer Campbell

Head of PE dept

My name is Jen Campbell and I am from Dublin, Ireland.

I am an enthusiastic and motivated Physical Education teacher and received a first-class honours Bachelor’s Degree in physical education and geography from the University of Limerick. Before that I gained a BTEC Higher National Diploma in leisure management, the national certificate in exercise and fitness and a diploma in the sociology of sport from the University of Leicester. I set high expectations for myself and encourage my students to do the best they can. I am determined to tackle new challenges and to be an asset to the students here at HeadStart.

For the last three years I have been teaching the Junior Cert Physical Education program and senior cycle PE in a diverse and challenging community school in Dublin, Ireland and I also have had 10 years experience working as a fitness professional in the Health & Leisure industry in Ireland.

I believe that every individual student has the right to learn in a positive and safe environment and I plan to provide my students with that opportunity.  I am a positive, committed teaching professional and I have worked hard to develop strong, flexible and adaptive teaching methodologies. I believe in the importance of high academic standards but also in providing fun, interesting and exciting extracurricular activities for all students.  In my three years at Riversdale Community College I started a girls’ football team that has since won the Leicester Schools Soccer League.  I started a self-defence class at lunch time and also trained the boys’ basketball team after school.

I have a keen interest in Thai boxing at which I spend time every year in Thailand training. I have boxed since the beginning of my University course in Limerick and won two Irish national championship titles in 2005 and for the last two years I taught a weekly children’s Muay Thai class in Dublin.

I am very excited and happy to be part of HeadStart’s teaching team and school community and look forward to bringing my positivity and motivation for physical activity and a healthy lifestyle to the students here at HeadStart.
