I am an enthusiastic sportsman with a keen dedication to teaching sport from grassroots level. I have learned many skills over the years in many sports and I like to pass these skills on to children and watch them develop. The highest level of sportsmanship I have gained was that of a semi-professional soccer player in a very competitive league in the UK. I also attained a very high level as a Basketball player in Manchester, UK. I have competed in many track and field events throughout the years taking part in the 100m, 400m and 1500m runs along with Javelin. I have got military experience so my level of discipline and awareness is of high standard and this enables me to take an alternative and constructive approach to the children in a positive and creative way.
In 2009 I graduated with a Sport Development degree and alongside this I have obtained other qualifications such as a Soccer coach; futsal… organization of small sided soccer; coaching disabled soccer players; Soccer Parent; Child Protection and many First Aid Courses around the UK and overseas. I have worked as a sports coach around the UK, USA, and Thailand mainly coaching at grassroots and semi-professional level. I have worked in a Hospital in the A&E department so my level of attention to the welfare of the children is high. I have worked as a care worker supporting children with various disabilities and helped them to engage in sporting activities.
The reason I am in Thailand is because of the culture. I have travelled the world and seen many cultures and experienced many different things and I find that Thailand is what best suits me; moreover, I have visited Thailand many times and lived here before. I also taught English in a Government School in Isaan before joining HeadStart and this is where I gained more class management experience which is essential to have. I found that Phuket is a relaxed environment and this is where I come across HeadStart International School.
I chose to work for HeadStart because I found it to be a growing school with a high reputation and teaching standard which has a more personal approach in delivering lessons. I believe that the teachers in HeadStart International School take great pride in teaching all of the subjects with high standards including PE and this is what attracted me to the school and this is why I accepted the offer. I sincerely believe that PE is a very important subject and is just as important as any other subject in the school.
