HeadStart on the Radio
This week a HeadStart representative was invited to speak on the Thai radio station 89.75. Khru Nee was our host covering many subjects such as HeadStart’s top award for Best Nursery in Phuket, shared with 3 other nurseries on the island, our graduating class of Year 11 and many more interesting details about HeadStart’s management and day to day routines.
After School Update

Please note that the Drumming classes have been postponed by one week as the teacher, Khru Jim, will only be available as of the 16th of September.
All students who have signed up for the Drumming and Guitar will need to be assessed by the teacher and then will be assigned groups by ability.
Guitar: meet for assessments on the 10th of September just outside the Music Room in Primary at 3:30 pm.

Christmas Play Project–Jackie Feliciano, Music Coordinator
For this year’s Christmas Celebration, the Music and Arts Department will be putting together a Christmas play. If you’d like to take part in it, please sign up with Ms. Jackie in the music room. Rehearsals will be after school and/or weekends. All interested will receive an information packet next week. Hope to see everyone there!
First Parent Committee Meeting
This year’s first Parent Committee meeting will be held at our school meeting room at 8:45 on September 12th. We look forward to working together with the following people to improve the academic programs at HeadStart for the 2013-2014 academic school year.
Weekly Reports Update
We are testing our new school management software and reports is only just one part of it. This week, we experienced some technical difficulties while printing the reports. We still decided to put the reports in your child’s homework folder since the most important information is there. We apologize for the illegible comments for Thai as a first language. Hopefully we will be able to get everything fixed again for next week.

School Band Auditions
Band Auditions have been cancelled due to a large emphasis being placed on academics in Term 1. We hope to get the school band up and rolling during the second term. Stay tuned for more details!
Inter Thai School Academic Competition
We are excited to announce that 11 HeadStart students from the Foundation and Primary departments will be presenting at the ‘Phuket Academic Competitions’ this coming weekend. Please see the table below for more information on who is attending and what categories they will compete in.

Twitter - @HeadStartICT is the new ICT twitter account accessible for students and parents to follow. It has been started with the idea that primarily, it is a way of sharing students’ great work with parents and other schools. For KS3 I plan to take photos of students work and upload these. Getting parents to follow and creating a buzz around not only the subject but the idea behind it can lead to further interaction between the school and parents. For KS4 students, I will post key exam points and try to follow professionals in the certain aspects that the exam criteria follows. This will hopefully enforce the theory and practical work they are studying if they can see its purpose in a real life scenario.
No more losing work or homework ! Google Drive - At HeadStart, each student has an email account with Google. With this Google account comes online storage space, cloud computing if you will. I am now sharing with KS4 students, my resource folder that I use with them for lessons. In this folder are all the PowerPoints, Worksheets and software support guides for students to have access to from any machine, provided it has an internet connection. I am also getting KS4 students to save all their notes and work in lessons onto their Google drive and am factoring this in to my lesson planning. This should help irradiate any issues with losing work either by storing it locally on the computer, or losing storage devices such as USB sticks.
Within the Google access provided to all the students is an area called ‘sites’. I have created a site on here that is suitable for teachers, parents and students that I hope to continually build through out the year. In this area students will be able to find topics of practical ICT. Within this topics, I am sourcing and creating my own videos, podcasts and help sheets to guide users through the mist of MS Office and other applications.

Students must log into their school email account and select the sites option. This will load a page and on the left hand side, students should select ‘browse sites’. From this the key words appear and students can select the yellow highlighted ‘ICT’. This should guide them to the web page.

สัปดาห์นี้ตัวแทนของโรงเรียนได้ไปให้สัมภาษณ์กับสถานีวิทยุกระจายเสียง 89.75 ครูนีได้พูดเกี่ยวกับโรงเรียนเฮดสตาร์ทหลายเรื่องเช่น เรื่องระดับชั้นเตรียมอนุบาลของโรงเรียนได้รับรางวัลสถานรับเลี้ยงเด็กเล็กดีเด่นของจังหวัด การจบการศึกษาของนักเรียนชั้น Year 11 เรื่องต่างๆเกี่ยวกับฝ่ายบริหารของโรงเรียน และเรื่องอื่นๆอีกมากมาย
การเรียนพิเศษหลังเลิกเรียน
ท่านสามารถดูรายละเอียดได้จากตารางที่ให้มาว่าในสัปดาห์หน้ามีชั้นเรียนใดบ้างที่เปิดสอน สำหรับการเรียนกลองชุดต้องขอเลื่อนไปอีก 1 สัปดาห์ เนื่องจากครูจิมจะเริ่มสอนได้ในวันที่ 16 กันยายนนี้
สำหรับนักเรียนทุกคนที่ได้ลงชื่อเรียนกลองชุดและกีตาร์ให้ไปพบคุณครูผู้สอนก่อน เพื่อประเมินและจัดกลุ่มให้เหมาะสมกับทักษะของแต่ละคน
เรียนกีตาร์ พบกันที่หน้าห้องดนตรี ในวันที่ 10 กันยายน เวลา 15:30 น.

การประชุมสมาคมผู้ปกครอง
การประชุมสมาคมผู้ปกครองในปีนี้จะจัดขึ้นที่ห้องประชุมของโรงเรียนในวันที่ 12 กันยายน เวลา 08:45 น. เป็นการทำงานร่วมกันระหว่างโรงเรียนและผู้ปกครองเพื่อปรับปรุงด้านวิชาการในปีการศึกษา 2556-2557 นี้

ทางเฮดสตาร์ทกำลังทดลองระบบซอฟต์แวร์ใหม่ของโรงเรียน ในสัปดาห์นี้ทางโรงเรียนได้พบปัญหาในการพิมพ์รายงานจากระบบ ทางโรงเรียนยังคงคิดที่จะส่งรายงาน และการบ้านของนักเรียนไปในระบบ แต่ทางโรงเรียนต้องขออภัยสำหรับท่านผู้ปกครองไทยที่ต้องการอ่านข่าวเป็นภาษาไทย ทางโรงเรียนหวังว่าทุกอย่างจะได้รับการแก้ไขให้เสร็จสิ้นในสัปดาห์หน้า

Twitter – @HeadStartICT คือ twitter สำหรับนักเรียนและผู้ปกครองได้เข้ามาติดตาม และจะเป็นอีกช่องทางในการแชร์ผลงานของนักเรียนกับผู้ปกครองและโรงเรียนอื่นได้เห็น สำหรับนักเรียนระดับ ช่วงชั้นที่ 3 (KS3) เราจะถ่ายภาพผลงานของนักเรียนและอัพโหลดลง twitter เพื่อให้ผู้ปกครองเข้ามาดูและฝากคำติชมได้ และยังจะทำให้มีปฏิสัมพันธ์ระหว่างนักเรียนและผู้ปกครอง ส่วนนักเรียนระดับช่วงชั้นที่ 4( KS4) ผมจะลงแนวข้อสอบและพยายามติดตามผู้เชี่ยวชาญที่มีแง่มุมและเกณฑ์การสอบ เราหวังว่านี้จะเป็นการช่วยทั้งในทางทฤษฎีและปฏิบัติ และสามารถนำไปใช้ในชีวิตจริงได้
การบ้านและงานต่างๆจะไม่หายอีกแล้ว โดยการใช้ Google drive นักเรียนทุกคนจะมีอีเมลเป็นของตัวเอง Google drive เป็นพื้นที่ในการจัดเก็บข้อมูลออนไลน์ ซึ่งในตอนนี้ผมได้แชร์พื้นที่นั้นกับนักเรียนระดับช่วงชั้นที่ 4( KS4) แฟ้มข้อมูลของผมเป็นแบบ power point ทั้งหมด ซึ่งสามารถเข้าถึงการใช้งานได้จากเครื่องคอมพิวเตอร์เครื่องใดก็ได้ ผมยังให้นักเรียนเก็บงานและบันทึกของพวกเขาไว้ใน google drive อีกด้วย ซึ่งจะช่วยไม่ให้ข้อมูลหาย
ผมได้สร้าง site ให้เหมาะกับครู ผู้ปกครองและนักเรียน นักเรียนจะได้พบกับหัวข้อของการปฏิบัติ ICT ซึ่งผมได้จัดทำวีดีโอและแผ่นงานช่วยเหลือสำหรับผู้ใช้งาน https://sites.google.com/a/headstartphuket.com/ict-support/
