**Duke of Edinburgh’s Award **
We are pleased to announce that the Trustees of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award International Association have authorised our school to be an Independent Operator of The International Award for Young People.
The International Award is an exciting self-development programme available to all young people worldwide equipping them with life skills to make a difference to themselves, their communities and the world. To date, over 6 milliion young people from over 126 countries have been motivated to undertake a variety of voluntary and challenging activities which encourage: personal discovery and growth, life skills, perseverance, responsibility and service to the community.
5 members of our teaching and management staff will be attending the Award Leadership training in Bangkok on March 9th and The Award programme will be available for our secondary students starting next academic year.

Skin issues at school
3 students have been confirmed to have Molluscumcontagiosum and are undergoing treatment for it. This skin condition is very contagious, found mostly around pool areas (but not confirmed to be from pool water) and can only be prevented by cleaning all surfaces with strong disinfectants.
HeadStart, along with FunStart are doing the necessary disinfecting of all toys, chairs, tables, surfaces, etc over the weekend to be able to declare it a Molluscumcontagiosum-free zone by Monday.
ESP, our pool consultant company has checked the pool water and has determined that it is not the cause.
We would like to ask parents to check their children carefully over the weekend. Any students with this skin condition should not come to school unless they fully cover the affected areas.

Phuket School’s Football League News
Girls Football Practice
Coach JR will be starting an all girls Football practice every Wednesday from 5:00-6:00 pm. The cost of the course is 200 Baht per hour. Students must pay by the term.
BKK Barge Program
Year 4 visits ‘Doggie Heaven’–From Teacher Sara Slaybaugh
6 students accompanied me to doggie heaven. Sherin Peace, the organiser of the project, explained how she rescues dogs from the government pound in Phuket (10 at a time) gives them proper medications, surgeries and care. She then finds a home for them and immediately replaces the one that moved out. Great experience for the kids. They were able to bathe them and groom them. They all brought some old clothes and towels and food for the dogs as well.

Athletic Meet at BIS
On Thursday, the 28th of February HeadStart students participated in an Athletics meet with BIS and PIA. HeadStart students performed remarkably well in the 100, 200 and 800 meter running races, the Quoit throw and the Cricket ball throw. We will receive the results for the Athletics meet shortly but for now here are the pictures!
We plan to join the PIA Athletics meet on the 14th of March as well so let’s stay warmed up and ready for action!

รางวัลนานาชาตินี้เป็นโครงการที่น่าตื่นเต้นสำหรับนักเรียน เพื่อพัฒนาทักษะการใช้ชีวิตของของเด็กนักเรียนในสังคมที่แตกต่างกันทั่วโลก และในปัจจุบันนี้มีเด็กนักเรียนมากกว่า 6 ล้านคน จาก 126 ประเทศทั่วโลกที่มีแรงบันดาลใจในการเป็นอาสาสมัครเพื่อเข้าร่วมทำกิจกรรมที่ท้าทายความสามารถ เช่น ค้นหาทักษะและความสามารถของตนเอง ทักษะการใช้ชีวิต ความพยายาม ความรับผิดชอบ และกิจกรรมบำเพ็ญสาธารณะประโยชน์
ทางฝ่ายบริหารและคณะครูของเรา 5 ท่านจะได้เข้าร่วมการฝึกอบรมรางวัลความเป็นผู้นำ เพื่อกลับมาเตรียมความพร้อมนักเรียนเข้าสู่โปรแกรม โดยจะเข้ารับการฝึกอบรมที่กรุงเทพฯในวันเสาร์ที่ 9 มีนาคมนี้ และจะนำโครงการนี้มาปรับใช้กับนักเรียนระดับมัธยมศึกษาของเราในปีการศึกษาหน้า

โรคหูดข้าวสุก
นักเรียนของเรา 3 คนได้รับการตรวจว่าเข้าข่ายเป็นโรคหูดข้าวสุก และได้ทำการรักษาแล้ว โรคนี้เป็นโรคติดต่อส่วนใหญ่พบที่บริเวณรอบๆสระว่ายน้ำ (แต่ไม่ได้รับการยืนยันว่าจะมาจากน้ำในสระว่ายน้ำ) และสามารถป้องกันได้โดยการทำความสะอาดด้วยน้ำยาฆ่าเชื้อ ทางโรงเรียนเฮดสตาร์ทและฟันสตาร์ท ได้ทำความสะอาดและฆ่าเชื้อสิ่งของต่างๆ ทั้งของเล่นทั้งหมด โต๊ะ เก้าอี้ พื้น ในช่วงวันหยุดสุดสัปดาห์ที่ผ่านมา
บริษัท ESP ซึ่งเป็นที่ปรึกษาสระว่ายน้ำของเรา มีการตรวจสอบน้ำสระว่ายน้ำและได้แจ้งให้ทราบว่าน้ำในสระว่ายน้ำของเราไม่ได้เป็นสาเหตุของเชื้อโรคดังกล่าวแต่อย่างใด ทางโรงเรียนจึงขอความร่วมมือให้ผู้ปกครองช่วยตรวจสอบบุตรหลานของท่าน หาก นักเรียนมีเชื้อโรคนี้ขอความกรุณาให้นักเรียนใส่เสื้อผ้าที่ปิดตุ่มคันให้มิดชิด ขอขอบคุณทุกท่านในความร่วมมือ
การซ้อมฟุตบอลหญิง
โค้ชเจอาร์ จะเริ่มทำการฝึกซ้อมฟุตบอลหญิงทุกวันพุธ เวลา 17.00 น.-18.00 น. สำหรับค่าเรียนคือ 200 บาทต่อชั่วโมง และโปรดชำระเป็นรายเทอม
นักเรียนชั้น Year 4 ไปทัศนศึกษาที่ ‘Doggie Heaven’ กับคุณครูซาร่า
นักเรียนของเรา 6 คน ได้แนะนำให้ไป Doggie heaven คุณเชอร์ริน พีซ ผู้ดูแลโครงการ อธิบายว่าเธอช่วยเหลือสุนัขจากหน่วยราชการในภูเก็ต ด้วยการรักษาด้วยยา การผ่าตัด และรักษา เธอได้หาบ้านใหม่ให้สุนัข ซึ่งเป็นประสบการณ์ที่ดีมากสำหรับนักเรียน นักเรียนได้ลองอาบน้ำและแปรงขน เด็กๆยังนำเสื้อผ้าที่ไม่ใช้แล้ว ผ้าเช็ดตัวและอาหารสุนัขไปมอบให้ด้วย
การแข่งขันกรีฑาที่โรงเรียนนานาชาติ BIS
ในวันพฤหัสบดีที่ 28 กุมภาพันธ์ ที่ผ่านมานักเรียนของเราได้เข้าร่วมแข่งขันกรีฑาร่วมกับโรงเรียนนานาชาติ BIS และโรงเรียนนานาชาติ PIA นักเรียนของเราได้เข้าแข่งขันวิ่ง 100 เมตร 200 เมตร และ 800 เมตร ขว้างจักร และโยนลูกคริกเก็ต โดยผลการแข่งขันจะสามารถแจ้งให้ทราบได้ในไม่ช้านี้ อีกทั้งนักเรียนของเราจะเข้าร่วมแข่งขันกรีฑาที่โรงเรียนนานาชาติ PIA ในวันที่ 14 มีนาคมนี้เช่นกัน
