Term 1 Fundraising for Phuket Sunshine Village
Continuing on with our long term partnership with the Phuket Sunshine Village and the great work they are doing to care for over 100 underprivileged children, we invite the HeadStart community to join in sponsoring a child for the supplies they need for the coming academic year. All money raised will go directly to purchasing school uniforms, shoes, socks, stationery, lunch money and transportation to and from school.
Visit the board in the atrium to learn more about all of the beautiful children that we are aiming to help and what they have written specifically to us, the HeadStart community, introducing themselves. Last year the community went over and beyond and we were able to sponsor all of the children at Phuket Sunshine Village.
Donations can be made by an individual, a family, a company or even a class in school. All you need to do is choose a child to sponsor and then contact the front office to make your donation.

Primary Wai Kru Ceremony
A heartfelt thank you to all of the children in Primary who brought in beautiful flowers, big hugs and kind words for their teachers on Wai Kru day this week. Well done to our Primary Head Girl, Seoha and Head Boy, John for being fantastic MC’s in their first all school public speaking engagement. Despite the large amount of people that no doubt can put nerves on edge, they both did a wonderful job of keeping the event moving at the perfect pace. The Year 5 choir performed in perfect unison and the audience were treated to a surprise as all of Primary stood up to sing ‘Thank you for the Music’, a beautiful song of appreciation to the children’s teachers. Paige in Year 6 and Tigger in Year 2 gave heartfelt speeches promising their teachers to respect and listen to them for the academic year while Prim in Year 9 led the students in the traditional Wai Kru song finishing off with Buahom in Year 5 leading all of Primary in the Student Pledge. Secondary Wai Kru Ceremony
Wai Kru is a beautiful part of Thai culture. This event typically takes place all across the country within the first few weeks of the school year. It is a chance for students to show appreciation to their teachers by presenting them with flowers, giving a kind word and pledging to respect and listen to their teachers for the coming year.
This year Secondary Head Girl, Keira and Head Boy, Carry did an excellent job of MC’ing the one hour event keeping everyone attentive and tuned in. Prim in Year 9 made her debut Wai Kru song debut, filling the hall with her beautiful voice while Karn in Year 13 led all of Secondary school in the Student Pledge. Fleur in Year 12 made a beautiful speech summarising the feeling of love and community that she has felt since her enrolment in Preschool while Krittat and Nikita also made compelling and heartfelt speeches of appreciation to their teachers not to mention Mr salmon’s ‘back to the future’ themed speech going back in time to when he was young. The Secondary choir of 14 singers, and Mr Graham on the piano was the cherry on top as they finished off the event with the sound of music. Well done to everyone involved in making an event of this magnitude such a resounding success! PE & Sports |
A fantastic game of football this week as the U15 HeadStart Panthers Girls travelled to play a challenging UWC team. From the start our girl piled on the pressure with great intensity however they were unable to find the back of the net. The girls never gave up and through positive teamwork and persistence, they got their reward with two well taken goals from birthday girl Maria Magg! -Coach Paul
Fantastic performance by the HeadStart Panthers U11 Boys team who travelled to UWC this week. Some of the players who played are new to our academy this year, but it certainly didn’t look that way as they played excellent high tempo football throughout the match. Great job Boys. -Coach Paul Rothwell
Student News |
On Friday we had a visit from Mr Tom, a prop designer who creates props for big budget movies; Harry Potter and Marvel to name a few. Mr Tom met with year 9 and our option students in years 10-13. The insight he gave was excellent and has inspired many budding prop designers of the future! Thank you to Ms Nacey for organising this opportunity. -Ms Alia Sillett
We are only 5 weeks away from our performances of Chicago. This week the students had a photo shoot, here is a sneak of what is to come!
Learning about our Digital Footprint
Our Y11 ESL students have been learning about their digital footprint and how to give advice. They have created their own posters to share with the HeadStart Community about what they have learned and have given some helpful advice on how to stay safe online. -Mrs. Davidson, EAL teacher
BTEC News
BTEC Travel and Tourism were given a taste of university style teaching this week as two lecturers from Prince of Songkla visited to teach them about Customer Service in Travel and Tourism. On Monday, Ms Patcharapimon Apithambundit delivered a very informative session and on Wednesday Mr Kevin Fuchs delivered an interactive session and offered support with their upcoming assignments. Both lecturers specialise in Hospitality and Tourism and it was a fantastic opportunity for the students to be taught by different educators, preparing them for the style of teaching they will experience at University. -Ms Yardenna Jones
