Friday Market - Calling All Vendors!

On Friday 26th January, we will hold our first Friday Market of Term 2. After the huge success of our Christmas Market, we would love to continue the theme of offering a range of eco-friendly products including locally made or sourced healthy, delicious snacks as well as craft products and activities for our younger children to engage in. We encourage all our vendors to use paper instead of plastic! If you are interested in being a vendor at our next market, please contact Mr. Bell at [email protected] or our events team at [email protected] or visit our admin team in the office.

Welcoming New Families to HeadStart Cherntalay on 08.01.24

It was wonderful to welcome our new families to school on the first day of Term 2. With new children joining from Preschool to Year 5, we are so thrilled that you have chosen to join our ever-growing community. Mr. Williams talked our new parents through some of the day-to-day operational aspects of life at HeadStart Cherngtalay and sharing some of the exciting events that we have to look forward to in Terms 2 and 3. We look forward to sharing that journey together!

Primary News

We have had a wonderful week back in school

Repurposing Plastic for a Purpose in Year 1

This week, Year 1 finished their surprise for Mr. Patel! Following his assembly on Creativity (one of our Learner Attributes) last term, the children of Year 1 decided it would be a good idea to create their own Eco Planters using plastic bottles that would normally be disposed of. The children had great fun making these and enjoyed learning about the impact of plastic pollution on our environment. They were particularly excited and proud to see their planters taking pride of place in the school gardens! The next step will be watching them grow. - Mr. Williams

Introduction to Incredible India

This week in Year 4, we started our exciting new unit for Humanities, ‘Incredible India’. We began our learning journey with a “WOW” lesson, exploring Rangolis and their significance in Indian culture. We had great fun dying rice and using it to create our own Rangoli designs. - Mrs. Cotterell

What’s the matter in Year 4?

This week, we inquisitively investigated the properties of the three states of matter - solid, liquid and gas. We used our senses to observe and describe the differences and similarities between the different states of matter, and we applied our scientific knowledge to reason why solids, liquids and gasses behave in the way that they do. Well done to our investigators in Year 4!

Investigating Electrical Circuits in Year 6

This week in Y6 science, we have been experimenting with electricity! The children showed great curiosity and resilience by building a range of electrical circuits using a variety of components, including bulbs, buzzers and switches. We had great fun and learned some valuable knowledge that will help us when creating working prototypes of scarecrows to protect our school garden! Watch this space! - Mr. Wakefield
