Share Your Child’s Success
At HeadStart, we are incredibly proud of the many and varied achievements of our students, from academic accomplishments to sporting success and creative endeavours. Whether taking part in one of our many extra-curricular activities or school programmes, or developing a lifelong passion outside school, our students frequently demonstrate that they are inspired by a love of learning.
Each week, we have the opportunity to celebrate these successes as a community both at our Monday morning flag raising ceremony and through our various social media channels.
If your child has experienced success and you would like to share this with our wider community, please complete our Student Achievement Submission Form
We look forward to hearing from you!

Parent Meeting 15: Thai Homework for Early Years Parent Workshop
We invite Thai-speaking families from our Foundation stage classes to join us for our latest parent meeting when we will talk you through our Thai language programme and offer advice on how to make links between learning at school and at home. We look forward to seeing you there! Thursday 25th January 2024 from 8:15-9:30am in the Primary Hall (second floor of Sports Building).
Tackling the Challenges of Phase 3 Sounds in Reception
In Reception class, our young learners are putting in tremendous effort as they eagerly tackle the challenges of reading and writing their phase 3 sounds. Their dedication and enthusiasm shine through as they practice and apply their newfound skills, becoming more independent in their early writing. We are so proud of their efforts. Well done Reception, keep up the hard work! - Ms. Hughes
Play-based Learning and Continuous Provision in Reception
Play-based learning and continuous provision are crucial in early childhood education as they engage children in active, hands-on exploration, which helps to foster creativity, social development, and problem-solving skills.
Teachers, deputy teachers and nannies will help to encourage children to extend their play. Continuous provision supports language development. Through modelling and quality interactions, teachers are able to provide language-rich environments. Through this, strong relationships are made with the children and children are given the opportunity to ask questions and make suggestions, extending their learning even further.
Creating Mirror Mazes in Year 3
We had so much fun exploring reflection in Science this week. We explored how light travels in straight lines and how we could use mirrors to make the light beam travel round corners. We made a tricky maze of obstacles. We discussed that shiny surfaces reflect the light whilst dull surfaces absorb the light. - Ms. Davies
Demonstrating Resilience and Perseverance in Year 6
Year 6 had a fantastic time this week hiking to the Black Rock Viewpoint! The team showed great resilience during the hike, persevering when the trail became more difficult and overcoming fears. I was extremely proud of the children’s collaboration too, staying positive and supporting each other all the way to the top. The views were certainly worth all of the hard work! - Mr. Wakefield
