Parent Meeting 11: Phonics Workshop for Thai Parents
On Thursday 23 November, Mr. Williams and Miss Danielle organised a fantastic Phonics Workshop. It was an insightful session where parents not only received valuable information about our phonics progamme, Little Wandle, but also got a unique insight into exactly what a phonics lesson looks like when they were paid a visit by the children of Reception class! It was wonderful to see how Miss Danielle led the children through their sound and letter learning routines all based around ‘Z’ for ‘zebra’ and ‘zoo’.

Mastering the Ds of Dodgeball in Year 2 PE
Learning a new sport can be an exciting and rewarding experience. It all starts with mastering the basics - learning the fundamental skills and techniques of the sport. In the case of Year 2’s Dodgeball lessons, this included developing their footwork, and the essential movements associated with the sport (the “dodge”), by first playing different versions of tag, including invasion and popcorn!
Under the watchful eye of their PE teachers, structured training drills, consistent practice and regular feedback was crucial for making improvements and developing an understanding of strategy. Finally, having become more comfortable with the basics, the students were introduced to essential equipment - the ball to dodge - to gradually increase the difficulty and move on to gameplay scenarios.
It is clear from their smiling faces that Year 2 are really going to enjoy learning the sport of Dodgeball!
Fostering Social and Cognitive Skills through Storytelling in Early Years
In Early Years, puppetry has been a captivating tool used during circle time and continuous provision. Within the circle, vibrant puppets engage young minds, fostering essential social and cognitive skills through interactive storytelling. In continuous provisions, children are also independently exploring puppetry, crafting stories and characters in our miniature puppet theatre. This hands-on experience not only develops fine motor skills but also encourages collaboration and communication among friends, laying the groundwork for a lifelong love of learning.
Learning about Rehabilitation of Rescue Animals in Year 2
Year 2 students embarked on an enriching visit to the Soi Dog Foundation, where they immersed themselves in playtime with small dogs, puppies, and charming cats. Laughter echoed through the air as the children forged heartwarming connections with their furry friends.
Beyond the joyous moments, the students engaged in conversations about the foundation’s mission, gaining valuable insights into animal rescue and rehabilitation. This experience not only brought smiles but also sowed seeds of empathy and responsibility, leaving a lasting impression on our young hearts.
Using Our Senses in Year 1
In Year 1, the children have continued finding out about the Human Body in their Science lessons and have begun to learn about the five senses. This week, they focused on the senses of sight and smell. The children enjoyed using their eyes to complete a number of sight challenges and used their noses to smell a range of mystery objects including popcorn and garlic!
Active Learning in Year 3 Maths
This week in Year 3, we enjoyed taking our maths learning outdoors. We played ‘duck-duck-goose’, but with multiples of 8. We had to chase the person who said a multiple that didn’t belong in the 8x table. We also played hot potato with the 8x table. This helped us to recall our 8x table facts quickly. It was awesome to take our learning outdoors this week and our 8x table knowledge feels even stronger now!
