Hello! My name is Katie Roberts. I am very pleased to introduce myself as your new English and Humanities teacher, and so happy to be here in Phuket as part of the HeadStart community. I have come here from south-west England and cannot wait to explore this wonderful new country and culture; I look forward to learning together in this exciting international environment. I have 15 years of teaching experience, and have been privileged to work in secondary schools in London and across the UK, in addition to working for several years in Paris as an EFL teacher. More recently, I have enjoyed working with a fantastic charity set up by a French footballer, educating teenagers and taking part in some inspiring visits and activities, which really nourished my passion for languages, outdoor pursuits and creating a nurturing learning environment with a real sense of family, which I am excited to continue creating as a member of HeadStart! Outside school, you can often find me in a pair of wellington boots exploring the rivers, lakes and coastlines that I love to splash about in, taking a quiet moment with my new Kindle, running to stay fit, or trying my hand at a new sport: surfing, paddleboarding and climbing are currently top of my long wish list. This year, I hope to bring this love for people, nature and linguistics into my teaching practice, and am excited to welcome you all through my classroom doors this year: they will always be (figuratively) open!
