Hello and sawasdee krap! My name is Sean Clarke and I am originally from Yorkshire in the North of England, starting my sixth year teaching. I am beginning my second year as homeroom teacher of Year 6 Yellow after two years in Year 4 at HeadStart. Prior to embarking on my teaching adventure in Thailand, I worked as a videographer for a media company after completing an undergraduate degree in Film and Television production. I enjoyed my time in the media industry; however I missed working with children. I then completed a PGCE in Primary Education and began my teaching career near my home town in Leeds, England. After two years of teaching and working as the school's PE coordinator, I developed and improved my own teaching skills as well as the attitude towards sport and exercise across the school community. Under my guidance the school received a Gold active schools award for the two consecutive years that I held that position. I strongly value student success outside of academics. During my three years in Phuket I have really enjoyed immersing myself in the local culture and island life. Along with football, rugby, swimming, yoga and fitness, I have taken up surfing; a sport that I am immensely enjoying on the island’s beautiful beaches. Last year I took over running the Primary Student Council. Myself and the council really wanted to make a positive impact on the overall school experience for the children. For one of our projects, we designed and painted a ‘buddy bench’ to help children make relationships and feel safe at break times. Look out for it in the school playground! In my classroom you will find a fun environment where hard work and laughter go hand in hand, as well as an environment where children are supported, encouraged, challenged and engaged in their learning. I am very excited to teach Year 6 this year and all of the added challenges; I am looking forward to make sure that all of the children are prepared for life after Primary school.
