Aida

HeadStart is proud to present “Aida” by Elton John and Tim Rice, performed by our CAPA Academy students. Winner of four 2000 Tony Awards, Elton John and Tim Rice’s Aida is an epic tale of love, loyalty and betrayal, chronicling the love triangle between Aida, a Nubian princess stolen from her country, Amneris, an Egyptian princess, and Radames, the soldier they both love.

The Circle of Life Dance Recital

‘Welcome to the Moulin Rouge’

On the 9th and 10th of December 2020, the CAPA Academy wowed us with a performance of ‘Welcome to the Moulin Rouge’. 66 students from Year 5 to Year 13 were involved in the singing, dancing, acting and playing in the live band. The audience could not take their eyes off our performers and they were met with a standing ovation. Well done to all our students and staff for pulling off another breathtaking performance. Moulin Rouge

Fame, the Musical

Our Senior CAPA Academy has pulled off our most challenging show yet. The students have been working relentlessly since the end of August with many an evening and weekend rehearsal to produce a fantastic showcase of near professional quality acting, singing and dancing. We couldn’t be more proud of this bunch of talented individuals. They truly are a special group! There were many people involved to make this happen ranging from our Art and DT staff, Maintenance, Housekeeping and Admin. But I would especially like to thank Fabienne Mester, Hayley Milner, Joel Adams, Alex Holmes, Jennifer Blackweir and Fred for the endless hours they have put in to make this another HeadStart success. Full albums will be available on the HeadStart Facebook page. Ms Erika Cramp, Director of Creative and Performing Arts

The Greatest Show

Around the World

In February 2019, HeadStart’s smallest pupils took us on a journey of singing and dancing through Australia, Hawaii, America, Egypt, Jamaica, South Africa and ended up here at HeadStart. The children ended the show singing ‘We are the World’ as parents held up lights in support of each one of our brilliant performers. A special mention to goes to Nua Jordaan and John Chadwick who did an excellent job of narrating the show.

A Night at the Movies

On the 11th of December our CAPA Academy was joined by the Dance Academy and the Active Learning Drama and Dance students in performing an original performance called ‘A night at the movies’. The students mesmerized the audience by acting out scenes, songs and dances from various movies. The evening took the shape of an Oscars ceremony presented by Nick Gold. Once again the HeadStart students showed us what phenomenal talent they have. Their hard work and dedication surely paid off. Congratulations to all the students and staff involved!

Charlie’s Angels

On the evening of 2 June 2018, over 120 students from the Dance Academy performed a fantastic rendition of Charlie’s Angels for an enthusiastic crowd of over 400 people. The show was a great success thanks to excellent planning and months of preparations by Ms Fabienne Mester, dance school manager, and the teachers who worked tirelessly to make it possible.

To celebrate the end of a fun and artistic year, 45 ballerinas from the HeadStart Dance Academy presented “Wonderland” last Friday. We went on a little journey through a world where little black cats from Reception, pretty rabbits from Early Years, multicoloured butterflies from Year 1 (coming out of teacups) and graceful playing cards from Year 1 to Year 4, presented port de bras, attitude, pretty swings and arabesques to the melodies of Alfred Reynolds’ music from Alice through the Looking-Glass Suite. At the end, they finally meet Alice performed by Juliette Guillerey. The dancers were then treated to a tea party and received awards for their achievements in Ballet. Big congratulation to all of the dancers for their hard work and dedication to this special discipline. They made their parents and teachers very proud!
