Prom 2014

This year’s Prom will take place at the U Sunsuri Hotel in Naiharn on the 2nd of July. The theme of the event is ‘Hollywood Gold’: students should ‘Dress to Impress’! We will have red carpet arrivals starting at 5:30p.m. The event will end at 10:30 p.m. The event will feature student awards, live DJ, food, free flow of drink and many more surprises!

Students from Year 7-11 are invited to attend. This year we are permitting each HeadStart student to invite up to 2 friends from other schools. ​All students can purchase tickets at 750 Baht pp at the downstairs office.

**Senior’s Leaving Party **HeadStart invites the Year 11 students and parents for an exclusive event to celebrate the Year 11’s moving on at the Blue Elephant in Phuket Town on the 30th of June from 5:30-8:00 pm. Dress code: very formal.

The Good Shepherd Fundraiser Update by Julie Cousineau, Year 2B Teacher** **On Saturday May 31st, we packed up all of your generous donations into a truck (it barely fit!) and went to the Good Shepherd School. We arranged everything into categories - adult clothes on one side, children clothes on the other, shoes together and toys separately. Then, we welcomed some parents and most children from the school who were able to come in to select 20 items of clothing and 1 toy each. The joy on everyone’s faces was truly memorable. With the money raised, we were able to buy lunch for everyone.

Primary News

Exam schedule ** *by Els Bellon, Head of Primary *The Primary students will be taking their end of term exams between the 9-20th of June. Here are some tips to help your child do their best.

**Make sure your child gets a good night’s sleep and eats a healthy breakfast **Many teachers report that students who don’t do well on tests haven’t gotten enough sleep, and haven’t eaten breakfast on the morning of the test. Doing both of these things will ensure that your child is working at full capacity.

**Make sure your child is prepared **Some classes may supply the tools your child needs for the test, such as pencils, an eraser, paper, and a calculator. Others may require the students to bring those materials themselves. Check with your child’s teacher to see if you need to provide your child with any of these materials.

**Remain positive **Staying calm will help your child stay calm. If your child gets nervous about the test or is likely to experience anxiety during the test, help him/her practice some relaxation techniques that he/she can try during the test.

**Testing Schedule: **09th of June: Maths paper 1 and paper 3; Science paper 1 10th of June: English paper 1 12th of June: Maths paper 2; Science paper 2 13th of June: English paper 2

Other subject tests are conducted on different times and days in each classroom. Please contact your child’s homeroom teacher should you require additional information.

Year 1 Make Fruit Kebabs by Laura Anne Baillie, Year 1B Teacher** **Year 1A and 1B have been learning about instructional writing in English. They followed a set of instructions to make these yummy fruit kebabs! They then had a go at writing their own set of instructions, remembering to include some ‘bossy’ verbs.

Duke of Edinburgh Update by Richard Allenby, Award Leader

As you know the end of the school year is approaching. The students who are still doing the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award have been doing it for about 8 or 9 months now. The Bronze award can be done in six months and indeed one student did complete in that time although has not produced the required evidence to date so, alas cannot be signed off as yet. We seem to have done a lot in the time. Most of the students are in the home stretch and could finish the award within the school year which would be excellent. In order for this to happen the students must present the award leaders with their ‘evidence’, proof that they have in fact done the award. For some it may be a certificate gained for others a signed letter or note from their instructors just clarifying that they have been attending and have actually achieved the goals they set themselves at the beginning.

To summarise, in order to finish and receive the award the students have worked for, they need to finish their service element, make a presentation about the journey and present evidence of completion of all elements as soon as possible.

FIFA World Cup and HeadStart P.E.

The P.E. department would like to invite students to wear the football kit (shirt, shorts and socks if they like – not football boots) of a country that they would like to support for the World Cup. They can only wear this on their designated PE day.

No supporters’ shirts are allowed. This starts on Friday 13th June.

งานเต้นรำก่อนจบการศึกษาของรุ่นพี่ ปี 2014

ปีนี้ งานเต้นรำฉลองการจบการศึกษาของรุ่นพี่ปี11 จะจัดขึ้นในค่ำวันที่ 2 กรกฏาคม ณ U Sunsuri Hotel อยู่ที่ในหาน ซึ่งงานนี้จะจัดในแนวที่เรียกว่า “Hollywood/Gold” นักเรียนควรแต่งกายให้เป็นที่เป็นที่ประทับใจ และจดจำไปอีกนานแสนนาน บริเวณหน้างานจะมีการต้อนรับแบบพรมแดง งานจะเริ่มเวลา 17:30น. และ เลิกเวลา 22:30น.

กิจกรรมในงานก็มี การประกาศมอบรางวัลนักเรียนดีเด่น DJ แบบสด มีอาหาร เครื่องดื่มมากมายไม่ขาดสาย และ อื่นๆอีกมากมาย

ขอเชิญนักเรียนที่อยู่ Year 7 – Year 11 มาร่วมงาน ซึ่งในงานนี้ ทางโรงเรียนอนุญาตให้นักเรียนของเราแต่ละคน สามารถชวนเพื่อนจากโรงเรียนอื่นมาร่วมงานได้ถึง 2 คน ตั๋วเข้างาน ราคาคนละ 600 บาท หาซื้อได้ที่ออฟฟิศชั้นล่างของโรงเรียน

ทาง U Sunsuri Hotel ยังมอบส่วนลดให้ผู้ปกครองเป็นพิเศษ เมื่อสั่งอาหารและเครื่องดื่ม รับประทานในระหว่างที่รอรับบุตรหลานกลับ โปรดติดตามรายละเอียดเพิ่มเติมในเร็วๆนี้

งานเลี้ยงส่งท้ายรุ่นพี่

ขอเชิญนักเรียนที่จบ Year 11 และท่านผู้ปกครอง มาร่วมงานเลี้ยงหรูหราเพื่อส่งท้ายรุ่นพี่ ซึ่งจะจัดขึ้นในวันที่ 30 มิถุนายน เวลา 17:30 - 20:00 ณ ภัตตาคาร ** Blue Elephant** ที่ในเมืองภูเก็ต กรุณาแต่งกายอย่างสุภาพมากเป็นทางการ

สวัสดีค่ะทุกๆคน ดิฉันชื่อ เพ็ญศรี (แพทซี่) เพิ่งจะมาเริ่มงานที่นี่เดือนนี้ ทำหน้าที่ธุรการอยู่ที่ออฟฟิศ ชั้นบน ดีใจมากค่ะที่ได้มาร่วมงานในองค์กรที่สร้างสรรค์ อย่างนี้

งานหาเงิน เพื่อช่วยเหลือโรงเรียน The Good Shepherd

พวกเราได้ช่วยกันเอาสิ่งของต่างๆที่รับบริจาคมาขนใส่เต็มคันรถ! ไปส่งที่โรงเรียน The Good Shepherd แล้วจากนั้นเราก็ช่วยกันแยกข้าวของต่างๆเป็นกลุ่มๆ เช่น เสื้อผ้าสำหรับผู้ใหญ่ไว้ด้านหนึ่ง ส่วนของเด็กๆก็ไว้อีกด้านหนึ่ง รองเท้าไว้ด้วยกัน ส่วนพวกของเล่นก็แยกไว้ต่างหาก จากนั้นก็ให้ผู้ปกครองบางท่านและเด็กนักเรียนส่วนใหญ่ที่มาร่วมงานวันนั้น ได้เข้าไปหยิบเอาสิ่งของเหล่านี้คนละ 20 ชิ้น และของเล่น 1 ชิ้น ภาพรอยยิ้มที่เต็มไปด้วยความสุขของพวกเค้าเหล่านั้น ประทับในใจของพวกเราไปอีกนาน…. และด้วยเงินบริจาคที่ได้รวบรวมมา.. ทำให้เราสามารถจัดซื้ออาหารกลางวันมาเลี้ยงพวกเค้าได้ทั้งหมด

ขอบขอบคุณทุกๆท่าน ที่เมตตาและกรุณา บริจาค สิ่งของ กำลังทรัพย์ กำลังกาย ตลอดทั้งสละเวลา ซี่งทางโรงเรียนเองยังได้ตั้งความปรารถนาที่จะร่วมมือกับทาง “Good Shepherd” ต่อไป ในการให้ความช่วยเหลือกลุ่มชาวพม่าและลูกหลานของพวกเค้าผู้ด้อยโอกาสเหล่านี้ หากท่านผู้ใดสนใจให้ความช่วยเหลือ โปรดดูรายละเอียดได้ใน www.theschoolphuket.com

นักเรียนชั้นประถม จะทำการสอบปลายปี ในระหว่างวันที่ 9 – 20 มิถุนายน 2557 แนะนำเคล็ดลับที่จะช่วยให้บุตรหลานของท่านทำข้อสอบได้ดีที่สุด …

ให้เด็กนอนให้เต็มตาและมื้อเช้าให้เด็กรับประทานอาหารประเภท **“เพื่อสุขภาพ” **เคยมีรายงานมาจากคุณครูหลายท่านว่า นักเรียนที่ผลการสอบออกมาไม่ดีนั้นเนื่องมาจากพักผ่อนไม่พอ อีกทั้งไม่ได้รับประทานอาหารเช้ามา ในวันที่สอบ ดังนั้นทั้งสองอย่างนี้ จะเป็นหลักประกันได้ว่าบุตรหลานของท่านพร้อมที่จะลงสนามสอบอย่างเต็มที่

ตรวจสอบให้แน่ใจว่าบุตรหลานของท่านเตรียมอุปกรณ์มาพร้อม ในบางห้องสอบ ได้จัดเตรียมอุปกรณ์เครื่องเขียนไว้ให้แล้ว เช่นดินสอ ยางลบ กระดาษ และ เครื่องคิดเลข ** ในขณะที่บางห้อง จะให้นักเรียนนำอุปกรณ์มาเอง ผู้ปกครองควรที่จะต้องสอบถามกับทางคุณครู ว่าบุตรหลานของท่านจะต้องนำอุปกรณ์มาเองหรือไม่

**คิดบวกเสมอ ** การที่ท่านผู้ปกครองวางใจให้สบายๆ จะมีส่วนช่วยให้บุตรหลานของท่านสบายใจด้วย หากบุตรหลานของท่านประหม่าเรื่องการสอบ หรือมีแนวโน้มที่จะเป็นกังวล และกระวนกระวายในขณะสอบ ท่านควรที่จะสอนให้บุตรหลานได้ฝึกวิธีผ่อนคลาย ซึ่งเด็กจะได้นำไปใช้ขณะสอบ

ชีวิตใหม่

ยังจำกันได้ไหมเอ่ย เมื่อปีกลายนี่ Mr. Yassine Darkaoui ได้สละเวลามาพูดให้ทางนักเรียนชั้นมัธยมศึกษาฟังถึงเรื่อง โทษของยาเสพติด

มาดูกันซิว่าชีวิตของคุณเค้าก้าวหน้าไปถึงไหนแล้ว หลังจากจุดเปลี่ยนนั้น…….

Duke of Edinburgh Update by Richard Allenby, Award Leader

อย่างที่เราทราบกันดีว่า ปีการศึกษานี้กำลังจะสิ้นสุดลงในเร็ววัน กลุ่มนักเรียนที่กำลังทำเรื่อง Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award นั้น ซึ่งได้เริ่มตรากตรำงานกันมานานถึง 8 – 9 เดือนแล้ว นั้น สามารถชนะรางวัล Bronze นี้ได้ โดยใช้เวลาทำให้เสร็จใน 6 เดือน และได้มีนักเรียนคนหนึ่งทำเสร็จในเวลาที่กำหนดแล้วด้วย แต่ยังไม่ได้นำผลงานมาเสนอ ขอแสดงความเสียใจนะด้วยที่ยังให้รางวัลไม่ได้ ดูเหมือนพวกเราได้ทำงานกันหนักในช่วงดังกล่าว นักเรียนส่วนใหญ่ก็จวนเจียนแล้ว และคาดว่าจะเสร็จในในสิ้นปีการศึกษานี้ซึ่งก็จะเป็นการดีมาก นักเรียนต้องนำเสนอหลักฐานที่ยืนยันว่าได้ทำงานกันมาจนสำเร็จได้ บางคนนั้นก็อาจนำใบประกาศนียบัตรมาแสดง บ้างก็นำจดหมายลงพร้อมลงนาม หรือจดหมายจากครู เพื่อยืนยันว่านักเรียนได้เข้าทำกิจกรรม และบรรลุเป้าหมายที่ได้ตั้งเอาไว้จริงๆ

สรุปว่า นักเรียนต้องรีบทำกิจกรรมทุกอย่างในโครงการให้เสร็จ และนำเสนอเรื่องราวแห่งความสำเร็จ และต้องมีหลักฐานที่แสดงว่าได้สำเร็จลุล่วงทุกกระบวนการ เพื่อที่จะได้จบโครงการและรับรางวัลแห่งความสำเร็จดังกล่าว

ทางแผนกพละศึกษา ต้องการเชิญชวนให้นักเรียน แต่งชุดนักกีฬาฟุตบอลของประเทศที่นักเรียนเชียร์ใน World Cup (ให้ใส่พวก พวกเสื้อ กางเกง และถุงเท้าได้ – แต่ไม่ใช่รองเท้าฟุตบอล) และใส่ได้เฉพาะในวันที่มีเรียนพละศึกษาเท่านั้น

ห้ามใส่เสื้อที่ระบุบริษัทโฆษณา ทั้งนี้เริ่มตั้งแต่วันศุกร์ที่ 13 มิถุนายน เป็นต้นไป
