Entertaining your children for six long weeks of school holidays is always a daunting task. HeadStart Summer Camp runs for two weeks and will provide fun, entertainment and excitement, in a safe environment, for your kids.
Arts & crafts, baking, games and much, much more. Plus exciting day-trips to X-treme Adventure Park, Dino Park Mini Golf, SFX Cinema and Phuket Aquarium.
All lunches, snacks and transportation are included, plus the school’s bus service is available to collect your children and bring them back home.

Parenting Tip
The older I become, the more I enjoy reading about education and what other people think it is and should be. I talked to a group of Thai parents this week and I made reference to Socrates and his notion that education is: ‘the kindling of a flame and not the filling of a vessel’. I like that way of thinking about what I do and I agree that teaching should be more to do with ‘inspiring a love of learning’ and facilitating the process and much less to do with simply telling students what we think they need to know.

Preschool Colouring Fun by Lisa Parsons, Preschool Teacher** **Alina enjoyed colouring in her Lion using different coloured crayons. She always takes a lot of pride in her school work.

Year 6 Graduating Camping Trip ** *by Els Bellon, Head of Primary *As a way of celebrating the Year 6 graduation to Secondary next year, HeadStart has organized a special ‘Camping Adventure’ trip for the students and teachers. The cost of this trip will be 2,000 Baht per student. Please see the following schedule and details:
**July 1 **08:30 – Arrive at HeadStart – Leave bags at school as drivers will bring them to FunStart 09:00 – Depart from HeadStart to Tarzan Adventure Panwa 09:30 – Tarzan Adventure Panwa 12:00 – Lunch at Tarzan Adventure 01:00 – Depart for FunStart 01:30 – Shower and set up for the night 02:30 – Afternoon swim and games prepared by the teachers 05:30 – Shower and prep for dinner 06:30 – Dinner at Yummy’s 07:00 – Campfire and stories 08:00 – Movie before bed 09:30 – Sleep

Secondary News
Year 11 Finals *by Mark Goodman, Head of Secondary *It is with great pleasure that HeadStart announces that the final IGCSE exam has now been taken by our Year 11 students. This year, we were able to offer Russian and Dutch IGCSE examinations as well as all the other subjects taught at HeadStart. As a certified Cambridge International Examination centre, we are able to offer students (and parents!) almost all of the examinations that Cambridge write.
Our Year 11 students are now undertaking their 3 week work experience courses and have been placed in businesses ranging from a 6 star hotel, dental clinic, lawyers office, UOB bank, plus two students who were placed here at HeadStart as a graphic designer and a trainee teacher!

Test Week News ** *by Mark Goodman, Head of Secondary *The next two weeks are ‘‘test weeks’’ in Secondary. This means that over the course of the next two weeks, your child will have an End of Year test in each subject. The Core subjects of English, maths and science have 2 tests each. The Core subjects use a standardised Cambridge progression test and the scores are uploaded to the Cambridge website so that we can see what the average score for Cambridge schools is in each subject.
You will receive all the results (including Checkpoint for Year 9 students) in your child’s personal End of Year Report package during the last week of term. The very last day of term, July 4th, is a non-teaching day so that we can hold our bi-annual Parent Teacher Conference.
Parent Teacher Conferences *by Mark Goodman, Head of Secondary *Friday the 4th of July 2014 will be the end of year Parent Teacher Conference for years 7 to 10. This is a non-teaching day for all year groups. Your child’s teachers will take the time to sit down with you and your child to discuss your child’s progress.
The first appointment can be made as early as 8am and the last appointment will be at 3.50 pm. If you can’t attend on this day, please schedule an appointment with the homeroom teacher on a different day.
Below is an example of the slip that has been e-mailed to you. Please return the slip with your preferences and we will try to schedule your appointment as best as we can. You will be informed by email of your exact time closer to the date.
You will also be able to meet with subject teachers (art, music, Thai and PE) as well as the Head of Secondary.
Refreshments will be provided in the canteen. Hope to see all of you!

Year 7 Presents Dance at Flag Raising by P.E. Department** **Year 7 presented the dance they have been learning during P.E. at last week’s all school assembly. A big thank-you to Ms Mester for the hours that she spent teaching the Years 7, 8, 9 during their P.E. classes.

ข่าวเรื่องการสอบช่วงนี้ โดย Mark Goodman หัวหน้าแผนกมัธยม
ในช่วง 2 สัปดาห์ข้างหน้า นักเรียนมัธยมกำลังจะสอบปลายปี ทุกวิชา และสำหรับวิชาหลัก คือ ภาษาอังกฤษ คณิตศาสตร์ และวิทยาศาสตร์ จะสอบ 2 ครั้ง วิชาหลักนี้ใช้ข้อสอบมาตรฐานของ Cambridge และผลการสอบจะส่งขึ้นเว็ปไซด์ของ Cambridge ดังนั้นเราสามารถดูค่าเฉลี่ย ของผลสอบของนักเรียนโรงเรียนCambridge ทั้งหมด ในแต่ละวิชา
ประมาณสัปดาห์สุดท้ายของปีการศึกษานี้ ทุกท่านจะได้รับผลการสอบทั้งหมดของนักเรียน รวบรวมใส่ใน Personal End of Year package (รวมทั้ง Checkpoint test ของ Y9) วันสุดท้ายของปีการศึกษานี้ คือวันที่ 4 กรกฎาคม นี้ ซึ่งจะไม่มีการเรียน การสอนใดๆ เพื่อที่ทางโรงเรียนจะจัดประชุมครูและผู้ปกครอง (ปีละ 2 ครั้ง)
การประชุมระหว่างครูและผู้ปกครอง
ในวันศุกร์ที่ 4 กรกฎาคมนี้ จะเป็นวันสุดท้ายของปีการศึกษานี้ ซึ่งในวันนั้นจะไม่มีการเรียนการสอนแต่จะมีการประชุมของชั้น Year 7-Year10 คุณครู นักเรียน และผู้ปกครองจะได้นั่งพูดคุยเรื่องความคืบหน้าของลูกของท่าน
เวลานัดรอบแรกสุดเวลา 08.00 น. และนัดรอบสุดท้ายจะเป็นเวลา 15.50 น. หากท่านไม่สามารถมาได้ในวันและเวลาดังกล่าว ขอความกรุณาให้ติดต่อนัดหมายกับคุณครูประจำชั้นในวันและเวลาอื่น
ด้านล่างคือตัวอย่างสลิปในการทำนัดที่ทางโรงเรียนได้ส่งไปยังท่านแล้ว ขอความกรุณาส่งกลับมาเพื่อจัดตารางนัดหมายต่อไป ท่านจะได้รับอีเมลตอบรับการนัดหมายอีกครั้ง ในการประชุมท่านจะได้พบกับครูประจำวิชาด้วย (ศิลปะ, ดนตรี, ภาษาไทยและพละ) รวมถึงหัวหน้าแผนกมัธยมศึกษา
