Foundation/Primary Parents Meeting Invitation

By Mr Andrew, Head of Foundation and Primary

On behalf of the teachers and management of Foundation and Primary I would like to cordially invite you all to a meeting in the Sports Hall on Tuesday 5th June, at 2.00pm. The meeting will enable us to celebrate the achievements and progress that we have all made on our journey to becoming an Outstanding school over this academic year. All of this cannot be achieved without the three-way partnership I always refer to when I meet with families for the first time - us, the school, you, as parents, and your child, at the heart of everything we do. I do hope that you will all be able to attend this meeting and I very much look forward to speaking with you all on the afternoon of Tuesday 5th June.

Year 9 Fundraising Effort

By Ms Rebecca barker, Geography Teacher

In Geography class students have been planning a fundraiser for an organisation called The Grace Villa. Grace Villa is a home in Uganda that helps women and girls who have been sexually abused. It varies from girls who have been trafficked to women living on the streets. They take these victims in and provide them with healthcare and education in a safe environment. The people who work at Grace Villa focus on showing these girls love and care in order to make them know their worth. Today, they are now home to 24 women and children. As a class, we have divided into groups in order to raise awareness and money to help this program, to prepare them for a better future.

Between the 21st – 25th of May, Year 9 students will be running a variety of different events to raise money in direct support of Grace Villa before, during and after school. Year 9 would like to encourage adults and students alike to come and support their events and have some fun whilst they do so! There will be lots of yummy snacks available to purchase as well as games to play and things to buy. We look forward to seeing lots of you there throughout the week!

Vintage Sale, Bake Sale and Teacher Car Wash

By Students Anya, Gemma, Esther, Anna, Sara, Dasha G, Anastasia and Dasha B

In our group, we’ve decided the best way to raise money to help, is to have a Bake Sale and a Second Hand Vintage Sale. This will take place on after school on the 22-24th of May in the Atrium. We will also be doing teacher car washes on 23-24 of May from 3:30-4:30 pm (200 Baht). If you want to help our group, we ask that you bring in any second hand items and place them in the designated house colour box that are in the Atrium. This may in include kitchen utensils, clothes, books, toys etc. Hope to see you there!

Football News

Last weekend the Under-11, Under-9 and Under-13 Boys Football Teams played against UWCT and KIS. The teams played very well and our boys won all their games and more importantly really worked together to achieve these victories. I am very proud of our Panthers and I look forward to our continued success. By Coach JR

Last Wednesday the Under-9s had a friendly football match during our regular training session. This was to help both teams get some match practice, whilst not being over competitive and allowing the coaches to coach in detail during the game. It was a very competitive game with our old friends the Youth Football House and both coaches were very happy with the way the session went and will be doing more of these sessions in the future. The final result, was a very fitting 4-4 draw and it was pleasing to see the progress the entire group of players made individually and collectively for their respective teams. By Coach JR

Foundation Department News

We’ve had a busy time in Foundation recently, with a number of trips and treats for our children. Last week Reception visited The Phuket International Hospital and Early Years explored The Fire Station to find out some of the jobs people do in our ‘People Who Help Us’ topic. We were also lucky enough to have a visit from the local Fire and Policemen who came to show us some of the tools and equipment needed when they are out and about, helping people in Phuket.

CAPA Week

Some of our fabulous artwork in now up on display in the Foundation corridor. A big Thank You to the CAPA department for their time and energy and inspiring a true love of art, paint and colour.

Transition

Next Tuesday morning, 22nd May, we will be welcoming all parents with children in Reception to a transition meeting. This is to inform parents of the steps we take as a school, to help prepare the children’s move from Reception to Year 1; and how we make the transition as smooth and comfortable as possible. We will also share some tips on how you can help at home. We look forward to seeing you all at 8.30 on Tuesday morning.

Parents Portal - No Reply Emails and Messages

Rainy Season health Alert - Mosquitoes

Always in rainy season do we see an increase in mosquitoes. The Foundation and Housekeeping Team are fully aware that these unfriendly creatures get into our playgrounds, classrooms and learning spaces. At the end of each day our team spray the rooms and as an extra precaution we have purchased mosquito rackets for each of the classrooms. Please don’t forget to pack extra repellent if you wish for our team to apply it to your child during the day. Please just inform the Homeroom teachers when coming into school.

Stars of the Week

A big well done to Pluem, Sebastian, Eva, TJ, Sona and Nate for a super effort in all lessons this week.

Congratulations to Gun, Alex, Harrison and Leo for trying their very best in everything they do. Well done everyone.

Reception Yellow are really enjoying our topic on ‘Superheroes’. We have been describing and creating our own superhero characters as well as exploring fun stories about heroic characters. The children have really impressed us with their super writing and art work. Also, we have been doing different superhero themed maths activities and the children particularly liked using numicon to build a city. In addition, the children have been creative making their own superhero masks and capes. It has been a really super week! By Ms Hannah Kuusik

A huge thank you to the policemen and firemen who visited the children in Foundation this week. They were so excited to see these important visitors, to learn about their special outfits and jobs and even go inside the police car and fire engine. A highlight of the morning was getting to use the fireman’s hose! By Ms Hannah Kuusik
