My name is Cardelle Dunne I am from London, in the UK. I have taught for six years in London, Bangkok, China and most recently Australia, both in Primary and Secondary schools in the International and public setting. Whilst I was in Australia, I was lucky enough to take some time out to surf around the country, mainly the East Coast. Prior to that, I was appointed Sports Coordinator of a Swimming and Sports Centre in West Sydney, running sports timetables and leading lessons for over 2,000 infants, children and adults. I am very passionate about PE and students developing a ‘love of learning’ in a wide variety of sports. I believe sport should not only encourage the most able/keen sports players to develop and enjoy PE, but should engage and excite all students regardless of their sporting ability or achievements. There is a wealth of scientific studies undertaken about the positive correlation sport has on a child’s learning and improving grades, social interactions and retaining information. I am looking forward to working with the students of HeadStart, Parents and other departments to not only develop a child in PE but to holistically impact their learning in school at the present moment and in later life. Outside the classroom I am a keen sportsperson myself, having played National and for the Women’s Super League in Football, Rugby for Canterbury, a keen surfer and a boxer. I know the importance sport has impacted my life and look forward to motivation and being the positive role model for the students of HeadStart.
