My name is David and I’m truly looking forward to working at Headstart Phuket. I was originally born in Konstanz, Germany and lived in Switzerland for the first seven years of my life, before moving to a small town near Leicester in the UK. I studied at the University of Warwick, where I completed a degree in English and German Literature. After graduating I worked in the city of London in sales for a software company, before training to become a Mathematics Teacher through the Teach First programme. Although the subject I now teach is very different to the one I studied at degree level, I have thoroughly enjoyed re-engaging the mathematical part of my brain, and take great pleasure in helping my students to crack tough problem solving questions. Nevertheless, I continue to maintain my passion for literature and the arts by reading widely and watching plays at the Globe whenever I can find the time! Outside of my academic hobbies I also play a lot of sport and am a keen fitness enthusiast. I play Rugby regularly on weekends and am also an avid gym goer. I plan to immerse myself in a range of different sports in Phuket, making particular use of the fact that I will be living so close to the sea by learning some new water sports. As an adventurous cook, I also hope to pick up new recipes and improve my knowledge of the Thai cuisine. Overall I am thoroughly excited by the opportunity to work as part of a close-knit and inspiring community!
