Hello, my name is Mike and I am from Philadelphia (aka the City of Brotherly Love), which is located on the east coast of the United States of America. Although I am a new addition to HeadStart International School, I am no stranger to Thailand. Having visited the country a few times on holiday, I decided to move to Phuket in March of 2016 to teach Cambridge IGCSE English as a Second Language and IGCSE Travel & Tourism at an international program on the island. I am extremely passionate about education and have dedicated my entire career to the learning sciences field. Prior to becoming a teacher I had a successful corporate career providing strategic direction for learning and development initiatives for some of the world’s largest technology companies. I have extensive experience designing, implementing and managing learning programs for KS4 and adult learners on multiple continents. In addition to a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, I also hold a Master’s Degree in Education from Penn State University and earned a TESOL certificate a few years ago while I was in Cambodia and Vietnam. I am honoured to have the opportunity to be joining such an amazing school with extremely qualified teachers, and I look forward to developing personally and professionally through my interactions with them all. I really enjoy traveling and exploring new places and cultures and strongly believe the world is too big to stay in one place forever. Learning about different cultures continues to broaden my view of the world and helps me appreciate what I have even more. Outside of school you might find me enjoying one of the amazing beaches on the island or photographing a stunning sunset here in paradise.
