My name is Sean and I’m from Yorkshire in the north of England. I will be starting my second year as the homeroom teacher of year 4 yellow. My studies in Film and Television Production at York St John University lead me to work for a film company where I was employed as a videographer and photographer. I enjoyed my time working in the media industry; however I missed working closely with children. As a result, on my return to the UK after travelling, I enrolled on a primary education PGCE course at Edge Hill University. After graduating with my teaching degree, I worked in a fantastic school in Leeds where I was able to develop my skills as a teacher. During my time at the school I became the PE subject leader, and under my guidance the school received a Gold active schools award for the two consecutive years that I held that position. I strongly value student success outside of academics. Headstart has a fantastically wide range of extra-curricular programs and I look forward to being more involved in more over this academic year. During my first year in Phuket I have really enjoyed immersing myself into the local culture and island life. Along with football, rugby and fitness, I have taken up surfing; a sport that I am immensely enjoying on the island’s beautiful beaches. My greatest passion when teaching is most certainly writing; in the classroom there is nothing I enjoy more than seeing a child stream their creativity and express their imagination through description and story writing and I believe writing allows the individual personality of each child to really show. In my classroom you will find a fun environment where hard work and laughter go hand in hand, as well as an environment where children are supported, encouraged, challenged and engaged in their learning.
