My name is Sean and I was born in Ambleside in the beautiful Lake District in the UK, but grew up in Yorkshire in the north of England. I will be starting my position as the Year 4 Yellow homeroom teacher this year and I look forward to becoming a part of the HeadStart family. In my late teenage years, I received coaching qualifications in both tennis and football; I was employed as a coach at my local tennis club and volunteered as a junior football coach. I studied Film and Television Production at York St John University which lead me to work for a film company where I was employed as a videographer and photographer. Whilst at university I spent my summers at Camp Towanda, an American summer camp in Pennsylvania, where I worked as a videographer and camp counselor. This job was creative and involved much travelling (a big passion of mine), however I missed working closely with children. As a result, on my return to the UK I enrolled on a primary education PGCE course at Edge Hill University. After graduating with my teaching degree, I worked in a fantastic school in South Leeds where I was able to develop my skills as a teacher. During my time at the school I became the PE subject leader, and under my guidance the school received a Gold active schools award for the two consecutive years that I held that position. Most recently, to combine my passions of travelling and teaching, I accepted my first international teaching Job here in Phuket and I am very excited to become a part of the HeadStart team. My greatest passion when teaching is most certainly writing; in the classroom there is nothing I enjoy more than seeing a child stream their creativity and express their imagination through description and story writing and I believe writing allows the individual personality of each child to really show. In my classroom you will find a fun environment where hard work and laughter go hand in hand, as well as an environment where children are supported, encouraged, challenged and engaged in their learning. Outside of teaching, I have a great love of football, friends, family and travelling, and whilst in Phuket I hope to try all the water-sports and sample the amazing food that this beautiful country has to offer!
