I am Hydie and I graduated Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education at Saint Louis University in the Philippines. I joined HeadStart in 2018 and it has been a wonderful journey so far. I have taught in both private and public schools in the Philippines. Aside from teaching my major subject, I have also had the opportunity to teach English as an additional language to students of various nationalities including Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese, Taiwanese and Koreans. I have gained valuable insights on how we could get along well with others despite differences in culture, language and age. I have also spent some of my weekends and summer breaks teaching children in an NGO in my town as well as in other places. Joining HeadStart in 2018 made me see how all my experiences would be very helpful in effectively teaching international students. I am still learning a lot every day and from everyone I encounter, every student and every teaching partner that I get to work with. It has been interesting since and every term presents new challenges which also bring me a sense of satisfaction because I succeeded in accomplishing my tasks and found ways to figure things out. I am always grateful for all the gratitude I receive and am looking forward to another fun-filled school year. I can only promise to do my best because I know my future students are going to work hard. I am very excited and looking forward to the year ahead and having new experiences here while contributing to the growth of HeadStart.
