Year 9 Teaches Us About Cyberbullying by Mark Goodman, Head of Secondary Our Year 9A students decided to address ‘cyberbullying’ in an interesting and innovative way. HeadStart takes a firm and robust stance against cyberbullies and, through teacher led discussions in homeroom, school assemblies and PSHE lessons, students understand the impact of cyberbullying on the victim. Four of our students decided to make a short movie to highlight the issues of cyberbullying. See if you can recognise the students and the location of the movie in Phuket Town!

Living Healthy Column by Coach Steve Introducing the “Attitude is Everything Lifestyle Award”. This is a lifestyle improvement column as thus far I have neglected the most important aspect of improving your lifestyle and having a great life and that is having a great attitude. William James, the father of modern psychology said “The most important discovery of our generation is that a person can change their life by changing their attitude”. We spend much emphasis and time recognizing academic, sporting and artistic achievement but rarely recognize “attitude” which is the most important thing in living happy, productive and successful lives. Winston Churchill put it simply “Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference”. Education, money, talent and ability count for little if you have a poor attitude. It is attitude that determines what you do with the opportunities life provides. I teach some wonderful kids with some great attitudes and as a result I am going to introduce the “Attitude is Everything Lifestyle Award”. I would have liked to call this the “Coach Steve Attitude is Everything Lifestyle Award” but I far from meet the criteria, though I am improving, and so I will name it after the inaugural recipient who I believe embodies all those things that reflect the “Attitude is Everything Lifestyle”. One of the greatest indicators of attitude is the dynamic that exists when people are present. When kids with great attitudes are away there is something missing and as a teacher you can feel the difference. Next week I will tell you who the inaugural recipient of the “Attitude is Everything Lifestyle Award” is and why they have been chosen.
