Foundation News

Foundation Assembly and Parent Meeting We would like to invite you to our Foundation assembly on Tuesday the 2nd of December. The Christmas themed assembly will start at 8:45. All Foundation students will be performing. Please try and bring your child to school by 8:30. Refreshments will be available from 8:30 am outside the library.

Once the assembly is finished Mr Jazon Edouard would like to invite all parents to stay for a short presentation looking ahead to the exciting 2015 academic year in the new school and how that will affect your child’s education. All parents will receive the very latest updates about the progress of the new school plus next year’s school fees information.

We very much hope to see you on Tuesday morning.

Preschool Connects Colours with Objects!

Early Years Planting Seeds by Anisa van der Laan, EY teacher Over the last few weeks Early Years A and B have been learning about things that grow, and what they need to grow. We planted some little seeds in our growing tubs in the Outdoor Learning area and discussed how we should care for them. The students were so happy and surprised to see that the seeds had grown the next week, and now water them every time we go outside.

Early Years Can Count by Anisa van der Laan, EY teacher Early Years A learning to count objects carefully and recognize the correct numbers. They had a great time gluing little beans next to numbers.

Teacher Meeting by Els Bellon, Head of Primary** On Tuesday the 25th of November, four primary teachers attended a seminar in the Cape Panwa hotel, organised by Oxford University Press. The workshops were focused on using scientific enquiry in the primary classroom.

Operation Christmas Box News by Samantha Dear and Dan, Year 2B and 6A teachers As some of you are aware we have started ‘Operation Christmas Box’ this year at Headstart. It is a fantastic project, which has really allowed the children to relate to their local community and consider children less fortunate.

The response we have had from you has been overwhelming and so many of you have been extremely generous with your shoebox donations. However, we would like to remind you that there is still time to donate for those of you that have not had a chance to.

We will be collecting the shoeboxes on December 4th and then distributing them to the Asia Center Foundation in Kathu, Phuket. If you have a spare few minutes, please take the time to compile a shoebox and donate. If you can’t remember what to include please refer back to the original leaflet or e-mail either [email protected] or [email protected].

If you have any further questions regarding the ‘Operation Christmas Box’, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Year 1A Assembly on Ancient Egypt by Megan Barnum Year 1A teacher ** Year 1A has been learning about Egypt and the Pyramids in their history classes. They shared different crafts ranging from geographical maps, farming, wall painting and heiroglyphics. They performed a song and dance about Egypt called: Pharaoh, Pharaoh!

Year 3B Makes Sock Puppets by Katja Clark, Year 3B teacher In support of our learning about writing instruction texts, students in Year 3 had fun making their own sock puppets and then writing their own instructions of ‘How to make a sock puppet’.

Year 4B Assembly on Vikings by Kate Johnson, Year 4B teacher Year 4B studied the Vikings in Humanities. In assembly they shared some interesting facts that they learned and then sang the Horrible Histories Song ‘Literally’ to act out what a Viking raid on British monastery was like.

Year 5A Learning About Holes by Heidi St. Hill, Year 5 teacher The students have been reading “Holes” by Louis Sachar in English class and were asked to do a character analysis. Using that, they wrote a journal entry and were asked to present as the character they had chosen. Some students got really into, even dressing up and bringing props. Amusing and informative, this was a great way to bring the characters to life. Thank you to all the Stanley’s and Zero’s in Year 5.

Year 10 Science Experiment Fun by Yvonne Ely, Science teacher ** The aim of the lesson was to produce a cooling curve for stearic acid to determine its melting point.So they had to generate the data and convert it into a graph. We will analyse and evaluate results next lesson.

H.M. King Bhumipol’s Birthday Celebrations at HeadStart by Khru Nee** In commemoration of H.M.The King’s 87th birthday on the 5th of December, the Thai department has set up a table, guest book and Father’s Day Tree in the Foundation hallway. King Bhumibol Adulyadej is the world’s longest reigning monarch and is respected and revered throughout Thailand.

HeadStart students write short messages to bless the King as well as to to their fathers, since this day also celebrates Father’s Day. We invite all parents to also take part in this activity.

• การประชุมผู้ปกครองและการแสดงของเด็กอนุบาล

ขอเรียนเชิญผู้ปกครองเข้าชมการแสดงของเด็กอนุบาล ในเช้าวันอังคารที่ 2 ธันวาคมนี้ เป็นการแสดงเกี่ยวกับเทศกาลคริสต์มาส ซึ่งจะเริ่มเวลา 08.45 น. เด็กอนุบาลทุกคนจะเข้าร่วมการแสดงนี้ ขอความกรุณานำบุตรธิดาของท่านมาถึงโรงเรียนอย่างช้าสุดไม่เกินเวลา 08.30 เชิญรับประทานอาหารว่างและเครื่องดื่มที่ด้านหน้าห้องสมุด

หลังจากการแสดงจบแล้ว Mr.Jazon Edouard จะได้นำเสนอเรื่องทิศทางการพัฒนาด้านต่างๆในปีการศึกษา 2015 ที่โรงเรียนแห่งใหม่ของเรา และประโยชน์ด้านการศึกษาที่บุตรธิดาของท่านจะได้รับ รวมทั้งข้อมูลล่าสุดและการชี้แจงเกี่ยวกับการปรับขึ้นค่าเทอมในปีการศึกษาหน้าให้ทุกท่านได้รับทราบอย่างเป็นทางการ

• นักเรียน Year 4B ** แสดงกิจกรรมที่ห้องสมุดเรื่องโจรสลัดไวกิ้ง** โดย Kate Johnson, Year 4B teacher นักเรียน Year 4B เรียนเรื่องโจรสลัดไวกิ้ง ในวิชามนุษยศาสตร์ จึงนำเรื่องที่เรียนมาแสดงออกเป็นกิจกรรมเกี่ยวกับพวกไวกิ้ง และได้ร้องเพลงที่สะท้อนถึงลักษณะความโหดร้ายตอนที่พวกไวกิ้งเข้าโจมตีโบสถ์ชาวอังกฤษ - นักเรียน Year 5A ** เรียนเรื่อง** Holes โดย Heidi St. Hill, Year 5 teacher ในวิชาภาษาอังกฤษ นักเรียนได้อ่านหนังสือเรื่อง “Holes” ซึ่งเขียนโดย Louis Sachar และครูได้ให้งานทำในการแจกแจงลักษณะตัวละครในเรื่อง แล้วเขียนเป็นบันทึก เพื่อนำมาแสดง ซึ่งนักเรียนบางคนก็แสดงสมจริงสมจังมากโดยการใส่เครื่องแต่งกายและอุปกรณ์ตามบทตัวละครนั้นๆ ทั้งสนุกและได้ความรู้ด้วย

** นักเรียน** Year 10กับการทดลองทางวิทยาศาสตร์ ** **โดย Yvonne Ely, Science teacher** ** วัตถุประสงค์ ของบทเรียนนี้ เพื่อทำกราฟแสดงการเย็นตัวของกรดสเตียริก เพื่อจะหาจุดที่หลอมเหลว นักเรียนต้องทำการทดลองเพื่อได้ข้อมูลแล้วแลงเป็นเส้นกราฟ ซึ่งเราจะวิเคราะห์และวัดผลกันคราวหน้า

ตกแต่งห้องสมุดในเทศกาลคริสต์มาส

สำหรับช่วงเทศกาลคริสต์มาสนี้ หากท่านผู้ใดมีของประดับเหลือๆ ไม่ใช้แล้วก็เชิญนำมาบริจาคได้ที่ห้องสมุด

ท่านสามารถฝากของประดับเหล่านี้มากับลูกๆหลานๆของท่าน คนละ 1 ชิ้น เอามาให้ที่ห้องสมุดค่ะ

รวมกิจกรรมวันพ่อและเทศกาลวันพ่อ ประจำปี 2557 ที่ HeadStart โดย ** Khru Nee ทางภาควิชาภาษาไทย ได้กำหนดจัดกิจกรรมเฉลิมพระเกียรติพระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัว เนื่องในโอกาสมหามงคลเฉลิมพระชนมพรรษา 87 พรรษา 5 ธันวาคม 2557 โดยได้จัดตั้งโต๊ะที่โถงทางไปห้องอนุบาล และมีสมุด และต้นไม้วันพ่อ ไว้เพื่อให้ได้ลงนามถวายพระพร พระองค์ทรงเป็นพระมหากษัตริย์ผู้เสวยราชย์นานที่สุดในโลกที่มีพระชนมชีพอยู่ * ทรงเป็นศูนย์รวมใจชาวไทยที่สืบทอดมายาวนาน * ** =================================================================================================================================================================================================================================================================================================================================================================================
