Enrolment

Students aged two years and above can apply for enrolment at HeadStart International School, Phuket. Placement is subject to availability and up to the discretion of the Heads of School. The school has a total capacity of 740 students. We accept 20 students per Foundation class and 24 students per Primary and Secondary classes.

It is very important that you understand the mission of the school should you be interested in being a part of the HeadStart community. Please read through all of the requirements and documents needed for application before you begin the enrolment process.

Parents, guardians and students must sign the Home and School Partnership Agreement which demonstrates agreement with and understanding of the school’s mission and regulations, such as code of conduct, dress code and behavior.

Student Enrolment Procedure

1.) Fill out the Application Form A parent/carer should complete a school application form. Forms can be downloaded from the website or a hard-copy obtained from the school office.

2.) Complete the Entrance Examination Students from Year 3 - 13 are required to sit an entrance examination. Entrance examinations are conducted every two weeks on Saturdays between 09.00 am and 12.00 am. The entrance examination fee is 3,000 baht per student enrolling.

3.) Interview with Head of Primary/Secondary Interviews with prospective students will be conducted by the Head of Primary or Secondary, as appropriate. An appointment for the interview will be arranged by a member of the school office personnel in consultation with parents/carers.

4.) Complete the Forms If a place at the school is offered, parents/guardians will be required to complete a Home and School Partnership Agreement.

5.) Provide Documents Upon completion of the Home and School Partnership Agreement, the school office will require a list of documents which can be found below.

6.) Pay school fees. Our accounting department will send you an invoice by email.

7.) Purchase school uniform Visit the school shop to purchase the appropriate school uniforms according to the School Uniform Policy as laid down in the Parents’ Handbook.

8.) The first day of school will always be a Monday.

Entrance Examination Information

Students from Year 3 - 13 are required to sit a CAT4 entrance examination. CAT4 assesses a pupil’s ability to reason with and manipulate different types of material through a series of verbal, non-verbal, quantitative and spatial ability tasks. Together, these four tests provide teachers with a comprehensive profile of a pupil’s reasoning abilities, and as such, the core abilities related to learning. The resulting data can then be used to identify a pupil’s strengths, weaknesses and learning preferences, providing accurate and reliable information that is essential for personalised learning. A full explanation regarding CAT 4 testing can be found here CAT 4Testing. Entrance examinations are conducted every two weeks on Saturdays between 09:00-12:00 am. The results of the entrance exam will be emailed to parents within two working days which in most cases will be the following Tuesday. The entrance examination fee is 3,000 baht per student taking the exam.

Father

  • 2 x photographs (2” x 3”)

  • Photocopy of passport/ID card

Mother

  • 2 x photographs (2” x 3”)
  • House registration or lease document
  • Photocopy of passport/ID card

Withdrawal/Refund Policy

A parent or guardian must complete the Student Withdrawal form and submit this to the school office/Registrar at least one month prior to the last day of the academic year. Refunds of the Endowment fee or otherwise are processed at the end of the school year and paid out 2 weeks after the last day of the academic year. Important! Refunds will not be made if the Student Withdrawal form has not been filled out and if the student is withdrawn before the end of the academic school year.
