Sports Awards 2018

On Thursday, 14 June, 2018, the school held its annual Sports Awards Ceremony. Over three hundred parents and students came to the event to celebrate the effort and commitment our students have put into all their sporting activities this year. Those attending were treated to a sophisticated ceremony which included; awards presentations, highlight videos and speeches, whilst being served food and drink at their tables. The full list of award winners can be found below.

The event was about celebrating the individual and collective efforts our students have put into their respective sports over the year.

All of the PE Staff believe that every one of our students deserves to receive recognition for their effort, determination and their contribution to their respective teams. Although some of the students received awards, and they are well deserved, the whole event was really about rewarding all of our athletes for their commitment this year. Each athlete deserves praise and recognition.

Sport is fundamentally about being part of something that is bigger than the individual: whether it is playing in a team or being an individual representing others – family, Houses, school or hopefully one day your country. Therefore we should always be thankful to others who help us achieve: our coaches, teachers and very importantly family. I have been involved in sports and specifically youth sports for Forty years now and I have witnessed first-hand the power that it has to unite people, grow individuals and help define who and what we are. But if you do not believe me then listen to what this man had to say:

For his all around performance: numerous school records and a fantastic attitude in all sport he takes part in

Junior Female Athlete of the Year Megan Fenech

PISAC Champion for her age group in cross country and has the heart of lioness! If she starts running you will never catch her!

Senior Male Athlete of the Year Vincent Edouard

An awesome Athlete who excels at sprinting, throwing and jumping and among his honours this year – Phuket’s Javelin champion!

Senior Female Athlete of the Year Nicha Unsaen

She has a ‘Never say die attitude’. She pushes herself through the pain barrier to compete and give her all – some amazing performances this year in track and field and cross country.
