**Easy Pick-Up and Drop-Off Time **To improve the pick-up for students in Key Stage 2 at 3 pm, we have created name cards which you can show upon driving into the school. A HeadStart staff member will be positioned close to the preschool building with a microphone. As you drive past, please show the name card so she can announce your child’s name over the microphone. เพื่อลดปัญหาการจราจรติดขัด ในช่วงเวลาหลังเลิกเรียน คือ บ่าย 3 โมง ทางโรงเรียนได้จัดทำแผ่นชื่อนักเรียนให้ผู้ปกครองวางบนด้านหน้ารถ หรือโชว์ให้เห็นชัดๆ ขณะที่ขับรถเข้าประตูโรงเรียนมา ทางเจ้าหน้าที่จะถือไมโครโฟนไปยืนรอยู่ที่ข้างๆตึกเตรียมอนุบาล ด้านหน้า ทันทีที่ท่านขับผ่านเจ้าหน้าที่ โปรดยื่นแผ่นชื่อของเด็กนักเรียน ให้เจ้าหน้าที่เห็น จะได้ประกาศชื่อเด็กทางไมโครโฟน ดังนั้นเมื่อเด็กได้ยินชื่อของตน ก็จะไปยืนรอ พอดีกับเวลาที่รถของท่านมาถึงจุดรับเด็ก ขอขอบคุณในความร่วมมือมา ณ ที่นี้ค่ะ

**HeadStart Staff Training **On Saturday the admin., kitchen, cleaning and office staff participated in some team building activities with Mr Adams, director of Theatrix and drama teacher at school. Staff participated in activities that fostered trust and working together as a team.

The Responsibilities of Sharing*** … are not always immediately apparent. But with regard to the library they are very simple. In order for everyone to share the books found in the library … it is the responsibility of everyone (student, staff member, and parent) to make sure that library books are returned to the library in a timely manner. In that spirit, I challenge everyone associated with HeadStart International School to take a look through their libraries, book shelves, desks, kitchen counters and things-to-do piles to see if you have any HeadStart library books. They are fairly easy to identify because there is a HeadStart Stamp and/or a Label (see the photos below) on the book somewhere. Often there are other stickers, stamps and names in the books, but that is because we have gotten many donations and bought books from other school libraries. So … if you could just take a look around for our books, we’d really like to share them with all of our students.

**HeadStart would like to congratulate Preschool teacher Lisa and Paul on their 29th wedding anniversary! Lisa has been teaching the Preschool class for the last 7 years and due to her, and her team’s diligence and excellent care, they have achieved 2 awards for top nursery in Phuket for 2 consecutive years.

Reception Car Wash ** *by Laura Rutherford, Reception teacher *Reception classes have been looking at different types of transport for the topic this week. On Wednesday it finally stopped raining, so we dashed outside and made a ‘car wash’. The children worked hard to make the bikes and cars clean and then went to fill them up with petrol at the pump!

Working Cooperatively ** by Lindsay Benner, Year 2A teacher **Year 2A, worked together in groups, to learn to get along with each other and work cooperatively by reading books, building blocks, playing Snakes & Ladders and making hand prints.

Year 4B Bones and Muscles! ** *by Kate Johnson, Year 4B teacher *This week in Science we learnt about bones and muscles. We put chicken bones in vinegar for the week and when we took them out the bones were bendy! We also made model arms to see how muscles work in pairs.

Year 11 Presentation *by Mark Goodman, Head of Secondary *Thursday 18th September saw the Year 11 parents and students meet together in the school library to watch a presentation about what they can expect in Years 11 and 12. The presentation underlined the need to work hard and to aim for the highest possible grades. Headstart’s policy for Year 12 is that students need a minimum of a grade B in the subjects they want to study. Cambridge AS levels are renowned as being the ‘gold standard’ of examinations and cannot be passed easily.

Second Bake Sale to Raise Funds *by Mark Goodman, Head of Secondary *Headstart students (Anastasia Emelyanova, Athena Butler, Angela Fahey, Vy Nguyen, Maria Gusleva and Nini Bouchara) from Year 10 raised ANOTHER 3,100 baht during a ‘bake sale’. The money again will go to our old Thai teacher, Kru Sa, who is still in Vachira hospital.

New Thai Dance Teacher ** *by Khru Sue, Thai Lead Teacher *Kru Bubpa Phengudom, or Kru Lek, is our new Thai dance Teacher. Kru Lek graduated from the college of Drama and Arts. She has over 30 years of teaching experience, which makes us confident that this program will be a success.

**Thai Parents Weekly Meeting **On the 8 of September, the HeadStart Thai management team gave a presentation to the Thai parents on the topics of streaming the Year 7 classes, the homework policy, diaries and lockers.

**Next Thai Parents Meeting Information **We are writing to invite the Thai parents to our next weekly meeting on Tuesday, the 23rd of September in the library from 8.30 to 9.30 am. There will be a presentation about school policy and the school curriculum for all new Thai parents. It would be great to see as many of you there as possible.

Learning to Wai by Kru Nid, *Thai teacher in Primary *Khru Nid has focused on teaching the students good manners and how to wai to people when we greet them.

**Eating Healthy **Reception students have been learning about the benefits of healthy eating. Kru Euw surprised the students by giving them some delicious rambutans to taste!

The Benefits of **Herbs and Vegetable in Thai main dishes **Year 5 students have been discussing “What are the health benefits of my favourite dishes?” Some favourites included rice salad, tom yum kung and gang liang.

U16 Basketball Friendly with the Wittaya School News by Tladi Small, Head of P.E. Last Friday the U16 Girls played in close contest between Kathu Wittaya School. The opening match of the year saw the Panthers get off to a flying start as they took an early lead with points from Melanie and Athena. As the game continued the duo continued to score but were always matched by the incomparable Number 7 from Kathu Wittaya School. As the game progressed, Nini and Tan did their best to share in the points but were often held back by the aggressive nature of the Thai School. By the second half the Panthers half-time lead had evaporated. It was here that the home team took advantage of their greater numbers, experience and fitness. They put together a small eight point lead that the Panthers found hard to overcome. That said, the Panthers still outscored their opponents in the first half and that will prove vital motivation for their next competition. Special mention should go to Hannah and Mook who showed some dogged defense throughout the match.

Under 8 Boys Football Friendly News *by Tladi Small, Head of P.E. *Last Saturday morning, 16 under eight Panthers played an inter-school football exchange between the BIS and Darasamuth Phuket Schools. This was the first experience of the year for the young Panthers and they were excited and nervous to be in a position where they represented the HeadStart Panthers. As HeadStart Panthers they displayed great sportsmanship and represented the school and community with pride. Students and Parents had the opportunity to network with other schools and enjoy the morning. We look forward to other such events where the students can exercise and enjoy each other’s company.

เพื่อให้ทุกๆคนได้ผลัดกันใช้หนังสือของห้องสมุด เมื่อยืมหนังสือไปแล้ว กรุณานำมาคืนภายในเวลาที่กำหนด ขอให้ท่านช่วยตรวจดูด้วยว่ามีหนังสือของห้องสมุดไปตกค้างอยู่กับท่านบ้างหรือไม่ สังเกตได้ง่ายๆ ว่าจะมีสัญลักษณ์ของโรงเรียนประทับไว้ ดังรูปตัวอย่างด้านล่าง บางเล่มก็มีติดป้าย ประทับตรา เขียนชื่อไว้ เนื่องจากว่าเจ้าของได้บริจาคให้ หรือบ้างก็ซื้อมาจากห้องสมุดอื่นๆ ดังนั้นจึงขอความกรุณาช่วยนำหนังสือที่ยืมไปแล้ว เอามาคืนห้องสมุด เพื่อคนอื่นๆจะได้อ่านกันอย่างทั่วถึง

โรงเรียนขอแสดงความยินดีกับครูลิซ่า ซึ่งเป็นครูแผนกเตรียมอนุบาล และคุณพอล เนื่องในโอกาส วันครบรอบแต่งงาน 29 ปี ครูลิซ่าทำงานเป็นครูสอนเตรียมอนุบาลของเรามาได้ตั้ง 7 ปีแล้ว เพราะครูลิซ่าและบุคคลากรดูแลเด็กๆด้วยความระมัดระวังเป็นอย่างดีเยี่ยมนี่เอง จึงได้รับรางวัลเตรียมอนุบาลดีเด่นของภูเก็ตมาถึง 2 ปีซ้อน

การประชุมผู้ปกครองไทยประจำสัปดาห์

เมื่อวันที่ 8 กันยายน ทางกลุ่มผู้บริหารแผนกวิชาภาษาไทยได้บรรยายให้ผู้ปกครองของนักเรียน Year 7 ฟังในเรื่องการจัดกลุ่มเด็กที่มีความสามารถใกล้เคียงกัน นโยบายเรื่องการบ้าน สมุดบันทึก และเรื่อง ตู้ล็อคเกอร์

นักเรียนอนุบาล Year 5 ได้สนทนากันในหัวข้อเรื่อง ร่างกายได้รับประโยชน์อะไรบ้างจากอาหารจานโปรดของฉัน ได้แก่ ข้าว ยำ ต้มยำกุ้ง และแกงเลียง

รายการแข่งบาสเก็ตบอลหญิงอายุต่ำกว่า 16 กระชับสัมพันธ์กับโรงเรียนกะทู้วิทยา โดย Tladi Small, Head of P.E.

เมื่อวันศุกร์ที่แล้ว ทีมหญิงอายุต่ำกว่า16 ลงแข่งกับโรงเรียนกะทู้วิทยา อย่างสูสี ซึ่งเป็นนัดแรกของปีนี้สำหรับ ทีม Panthers เริ่มได้สวย นำแต้มไปก่อน โดย Melanie และ Athena แต่หมายเลข 7 ของกะทู้วิทยาเข้ามากีดกันตลอด ต่อมา Nini และ Tan ก็สู้ไม่ถอย แม้ฝ่ายตรงข้ามจะเล่นแรงมากก็ตาม พอครึ่งหลัง ทีม Panthers ที่นำมาก่อนตอนแรก ก็กลับมาเป็นฝ่ายรับ ตามหลังอยู่ 8 แต้ม ซึ่งไม่สามารถจะตีเสมอกลับได้ แต่อย่างไรก็ตาม เมื่อครึ่งแรกทีมของเราทำคะแนนเหนือกว่าเค้านะครับ โดยเพาะมุก และ ฮันนา ที่เล่นตั้งรับป้องกันได้ดีตลอด จนหมดเวลา

เมื่อเช้าวันเสาร์ที่ผ่านมา ทีม Panthers 16 คน ลงแข่งกับ BIS และโรงเรียนดาราสมุทร ซึ่งเป็นนัดแรกของปีนี้สำหรับทีมเด็กน้อยๆของเรา ซึ่งก็ตื่นเต้นและประหม่าบ้างที่เข้าแข่งขันเป็นตัวแทนของโรงเรียน ซึ่งเค้าเล่นสมเป็นนักกีฬาที่ดี เป็นความภาคภูมิใจของเรา ทั้งนักเรียนและผู้ปกครองได้มีโอกาสได้พบปะกับโรงเรียนอื่นๆ ได้สนุกสนานเพลิดเพลินกันในเช้าวันนั้น หวังว่าจะได้สนุกกันอีกในโอกาสต่อไป
