Introducing New Swimming Teachers
Severine Choremi
I was born and grew up in Geneva Switzerland. I have been a lifeguard and swimming teacher for 18 years. I hold a diploma in Pool Pro SSS (Société Suisse Sauvetage) and “Aquatic Sports Monitor”. I hope that I may be of assistance to you and that many more students will join the swimming program this term.
Megan Barnum
My name is Megan Barnum. I am continuing to teach beginning level swimming in Term 2. I have been teaching children to swim since I was at university where I was also a lifeguard. I was a competitive swimmer from ages 6 - 19 which included competing at the university level while I attended UCLA. My goal is to help children become confident in their swimming skills. I work on teaching students to swim correctly with good technique. I also aim for them to be able to swim competitively in the future.
Secondary Outbound Field Trips
Just a reminder that we will need all Secondary students wishing to join the Outbound Field trips to Khao Yai, Kanchanaburi and Bangkok in February to sign up this week. Any delays to the bookings will mean that the prices for flights increase due to the trips being scheduled around Chinese New Year. Thank you kindly for your co operation.**

A Warm Welcome to Term 2 from the Head of Primary
Happy New Year! I would like to welcome all students, parents and teachers back to school for Term 2 of the 2014-2015 academic school year! I would like to extend a special welcome to all new families joining the HeadStart community! I trust you will have a worthwhile and memorable during your time at HeadStart. We look forward to meeting each and every one of you within the next few days. Our teaching team is ready for another great year of teaching and ongoing development of our school. Term 2 will be filled with loads of activities and events while on the academic front, our Year 6-9 students are gearing up for their Cambridge Checkpoint Exams at the end of this term. We wish every candidate great success in this important stage of their development.

Introducing New Teachers ** by Khru Nee, Deputy School Director **
My name is Tariyaporn Boonkong and my nickname is Pu. I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Thai language from Silpakorn University (Sanamchandra Campus) in 2010.
In the last three years I have taught at Kajonkietsuksa, Satree Phuket and Darasamuth. For the last three months, I have been a Thai tutor in Nakonsrithammarat. This year, I will join the Thai department and will be teaching Thai as a First Language to the Year 6-10 classes.
I am very proud to be a member of the professional team of educators at HeadStart. I love being a Thai teacher; I always love working with students and being able to let students work at a pace that is most comfortable for them and helping to accommodate all learning styles. I love helping students gain independence in their work. I think students should cover four areas of learning: listening, speaking, reading and writing. I will show my students that learning is fun!

My name is Somying Kanjanapong. I earned a Bachelor of Thai Education from Rajabhat Nakonsithammarat University. I began my diverse teaching career as a student teacher for Primary and Secondary in Yotinbamrungrat and Baantongchon schools. After graduating from university, I started to work at Kajonkietsuksa School as a teacher assistant and I got promoted to become a homeroom teacher for grade 3.
In my three years of teaching, one of the most enjoyable experiences I’ve had is helping my students to achieve their goals. I always believe in student-centred learning by putting students’ interests first and to focus on each student’s interests, abilities, and learning styles, placing the teacher as a facilitator for learning.

*Gold Medal for Sirikran Seangsalak (Nong Aum) **by Khru Nee, Deputy School Director*

At the end of term 1 last year, Sirikran Seangsalak, Aum from Year 1B, took part in a Thai Academic Competition in Krabi province. After she came first place and receiving the Gold medal for ‘Story Telling’ in the Phuket round, Aum then continued to represent Phuket in the Southern Thailand round.
Congratulations to Aum who received a Gold medal and came 6th place! Thank you Aum for working so hard and a special thank you to Dr. Parimon for training her for the competition. This is such and big achievement for our Thai department and for HeadStart school.

James van Herzeele Wins U12 in Belgium Tennis Talent 2014
HeadStart wishes to congratulate James van Herzeele for winning first place in the Under 12 Boys category in the Belgium Tennis Talent competition 2014 in T.C. Agrayon, Belgium on the 20-30th of December, 2014. There were more than 500 players who joined this event. James had to pass two pre-qualifying rounds since there were 84 contestants in the Under 12 boys category. James won all matches with clean & impressive scores. He passed the Semi-Final by beating the number #1 player 3:6,6:0 and 6:2 and took the Championship position from the Final round by winning 6:1,6:1. James’ performance classifies him not only as Thailand’s number 1 Under 12 boys Tennis player but now also as Belgium’s. Congratulations James van Herzeele!
Every AquaPanther produced multiple personal best times. Some of the highlights were:
Dasha Belous improving her 50 meters freestyle by 5.85 seconds Anya Belova improving her 200 individual medley by 2.20 seconds Qistina Elyssa improving her 50 meters freestyle by 3.18 seconds Anna Hull improving her 100 meter freestyle by an amazing 17.64 seconds Jasmine Hull improving her 100 meter breaststroke by an incredible 40.59 seconds Regina Lee competing in her very first swimming meet came 21st in the 200meter freestyle Kiki Ngernanek dropping an amazing 26.21 off her personal best time for the 100 meter breaststroke. Jiraya Prieur achieved personal bests in all of her 10 events and guided the 200 meter medley relay team to a 4th place finish. Kate Songpetchamongkol improving her 100 meter backstroke by 41.80 seconds Juno Wannakitti improving his 200 meter individual medley by 14.53 seconds Angela Van de Sluijs improving her 50 backstroke by 10.41 seconds Ryan Van de Sluijs improving his breaststroke by 17.21 seconds Eve Whittaker finishing an amazing 17th in the 200 meter breaststroke Special mention has to go to Silvana Dufes who made a special guest appearance and posted a new 50 meter freestyle personal best.

สวัสดีปีใหม่ ดิฉันขอต้อนรับนักเรียน ท่านผู้ปกครอง และครู ทุกๆท่าน กลับเข้าสู่โรงเรียน ในเทอมที่2 ของปีการศึกษา 2014-2015 โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่ง สำหรับนักเรียนใหม่ที่เพิ่งจะเข้ามาเริ่มเรียนในเทอมนี้ เชื่อว่าชีวิตในโรงเรียนเฮดสตาร์ทจะเป็นช่วงเวลาแห่งคุณค่าที่น่าจดจำของท่าน เราหวังว่าจะได้พบปะพูดคุยกับทุกๆท่านในช่วงไม่กี่วันนี้ คณะครูของเราพร้อมที่สอนอย่างเต็มที่ในปีนี้และเตรียมตัวสำหรับโรงเรียนใหม่ ในเทอมที่ 2 นี้จะมีกิจกรรมต่างๆมากมายในหลักสูตร นักเรียน Year 6 และ Year 9 กำลังเตรียมตัวสอบ Cambridge Checkpoint Exams ตอนปลายเทอม ขอให้ทุกๆท่านประสพความสำเร็จในช่วงที่สำคัญนี้

เด็กห้องYear 4B เด็กๆช่วยกันทำหัตถกรรมกระดาษอัด คือการตัดกระดาษเป็นชิ้นเล็กๆแล้วเอามาแปะซ้อนๆกันบนลูกโป่ง ซึ่งจะทำเป็นลูกโลก สำหรับในโครงการล่าสุดที่ชื่อ ‘continents.’

ดิฉันชื่อตริยาภรณ์ บุญคง มีชื่อเล่นว่า ปุ๊ จบการศึกษาปริญญาศิลปศาสตรบัณฑิต สาขาวิชาภาษาไทย จากมหาวิทยาลัยศิลปากร วิทยาเขตพระราชวังสนามจันทร์ เมื่อปี 2553
ในช่วง 3 ปี ที่ผ่านมา ดิฉันได้สอนหนังสือที่ โรงเรียนขจรเกียรติศึกษา โรงเรียนสตรีภูเก็ต และโรงเรียนดาราสมุทร และช่วง 3 เดือนที่ผ่านมา ได้เป็นครูสอนพิเศษภาษาไทย ที่นครศรีธรรมราช ในปีนี้ ดิฉันได้เข้ามาร่วมงานกับแผนกภาษาไทย และจะสอนวิชาภาษาไทยแบบเจ้าของภาษา ให้นักเรียนในระดับYear 6-10
ดิฉันภูมิใจมากที่ได้มาร่วมงานสอนที่โรงเรียนเฮดสตาร์ท ดิฉันรักการเป็นครูสอนภาษาไทย รักที่จะทำงานกับเด็กๆ ช่วยให้เค้าได้เรียนไปอย่างสบายๆ และในทุกรูปแบบการเรียน ชอบที่จะช่วยให้เด็กๆมีอิสระในการทำงานอย่าง นักเรียนควรต้องเรียนการฟัง การพูด การอ่าน และการเขียน ดิฉันจะแสดงให้นักเรียนเห็นว่าการเรียนนั้นเป็นสิ่งที่น่าสนุก!

ดิฉันชื่อสมหญิง กาญจนพงษ์ จบการศึกษาด้านภาษาไทย จาก มหาวิทยาลัย ราชภัฏนครศรีธรรมราช เริ่มสอนหนังสือในระดับประถมศึกษาและมัธยมศึกษา ที่โรงเรียนโยธินบำรุงราช และโรงเรียนทองชล หลังจากจบการศึกษาจากมหาวิทยาลัย จึงได้สอนที่โรงเรียนขจรเกียรติศึกษา ในตำแหน่งผู้ช่วยครู และได้เลื่อนขึ้นมาเป็นครูประจำชั้น ป.3**
ในชีวิตการสอนหนังสือมา 3 ปีนั้น ประสบการณ์ที่ประทับใจที่สุดคือ ดิฉันได้ช่วยให้นักเรียนประสพความสำเร็จตามที่เป้าหมายที่ตั้งไว้ ดิฉันเชื่อเสมอในการถือเอาเด็กเป็นศูนย์กลางในการสอน โดยยึดความสนใจของเด็กเป็นหลัก เน้นในความสนใจ ความสามารถ และ รูปแบบการเรียนของเด็กแต่ละคน ซึ่งครูจะทำหน้าที่เป็นผู้อำนวยความสะดวกในการเรียนให้

**น้องอุ้มคว้ารางวัลชนะเลิศ **โดย Khru Nee, Deputy School Director
เมื่อปลายเทอมที่แล้ว น้องอุ้ม Year 1B ได้ไปร่วมแข่งขันภาษาไทย ที่จังหวัดกระบี่ หลังจากที่ได้คว้ารางวัลชนะเลิศในหัวข้อการเล่านิทาน ที่ภูเก็ตแล้ว น้องอุ้มได้เป็นตัวแทนของจังหวัดภูเก็ต ไปแข่งขันต่อในระดับภาคใต้
ขอแสดงความยินดีกับน้องอุ้มค่ะ ที่ได้รับเหรียญทอง และได้อันดับที่หก ขอขอบคุณน้องอุ้มที่พยามยามฝึกซ้อมอย่างหนัก และขอขอบคุณ ดร.ปริมล ไพรสำราญ เป็นพิเศษ ที่ช่วยฝึกน้องอุ้มเพื่อไปแข่ง นี่เป็นผลงานความสำเร็จอันยิ่งใหญ่ของแผนกภาษาไทยและของโรงเรียนเฮดสตาร์ท

น้องเจมส์ James van Herzeele ชนะเลิศรายการ U12 in Belgium Tennis Talent 2014
โรงเรียนเฮดสตาร์ท ขอแสดงความยินดีกับน้องเจมส์ James van Herzeele ที่คว้ารางวัลชนะเลิศในรายการแข่งเทนนิสชายรุ่นอายุต่ำกว่า 12 ปี “Belgium Tennis Talent competition 2014” ที่ T.C. Agrayon ประเทศเบลเยี่ยม ระหว่างวันที่ 20-30 ธันวาคม 2557 มีนักกีฬามากกว่า 500 คนที่เข้าร่วมการแข่งขันครั้งนี้ น้องเจมส์ จะต้องผ่านรอบแรกๆก่อน 2 รอบ เนื่องจากมีผู้เข้าแข่งในรุ่นนี้ 84 คน น้องเจมส์ชนะทุกนัดอย่างใสสะอาดและขาดลอย น้องเอาชนะมือวางหมายเลข 1 ในรอบรองชนะเลิศ ด้วยคะแนน 3:6, 6:0 และ 6:2 และชนะเลิศในรอบสุดท้ายด้วยคะแนน 6:1, 6:1. ฝีมือของน้องเจมส์ นั้นนอกจากจะเป็นมือวางอันดับหนึ่ง ในรุ่นชายอายุต่ำกว่า 12 ปี ของประเทศไทยแล้ว ยังเป็นอันดับหนึ่งแห่งประเทศเบลเยี่ยมด้วย !
ข่าวจากรายการแข่งว่ายน้ำ Bangkok Patana Feeding Frenzy โดย Tladi Small, Head of P.E. ขอแสดงความยินดี กับนักกีฬาทีมว่ายน้ำ HeadStart AquaPanthers ของเรา ที่ได้ไปร่วมรายการแข่งว่ายน้ำ 2014 Bangkok Patana Feeding Frenzy เมื่อสุดสัปดาห์ มีโรงเรียนจากทั่วทวีปเอเชีย ส่งนักเรียนเข้าร่วมแข่ง และว่ายได้ดี แต่ละคนต้องแข่ง 10 รายการ และ แบบผลัด 2 รายการ
นักกีฬาของเรา ทำเวลาดีมากในหลายรายการ ดูรายการเด่นๆ ดังนี้:
