Cambridge Update
It is with great interest that I see thirty US high schools are now offering Cambridge IGCSE as part of a pilot programme designed to raise standards in education. This almost doubles the number offered in 2011. The ‘Excellence for All’ programme is designed to better prepare students for college and university.
The IGCSE English and mathematics syllabuses taught in the pilot schools are compatible with thee Common Core State Standards – a set of standards designed to bring consistency to education across the US. These new steps into the US market could create a ‘new’ start for many US students.
HeadStart is proud to be a part of the Cambridge Education family. After all, 140 countries providing over half a million entries last November underline why IGCSE has not only survived for 25 years but is growing at a rate of 19% per year. Only the best is good enough.
Year 11 & 12 Parent Teacher Conference
We would like to remind you that HeadStart is trying to promote healthier food at school. Please send your child to school with a snack that is low in sugar and salt content. In the morning the teachers in years 1-3 will collect all the snacks that the students bring, label them and hand them out during break time. Unhealthy snacks will stay with the teacher until the end of the day. Students in years 4-6 will be allowed to keep their own snacks in their bags, but should check with their homeroom teacher before taking them out for break time.
Healthy snacks at HeadStart
Although we like to have children share, we will from now on discourage sharing snacks to avoid upsetting parents when they find out that their child had a snack that they disapprove of. We would like to thank you for your understanding and cooperation in this matter.
For parents of students in Years 11 and 12, this is possibly the most important meeting you can have with your teachers. The teachers will go over your child’s report and mock exam results. The parent teacher conference will be held on Wednesday 23rd January from 3 to 6pm. For parents who have not yet replied to the email or letter I sent out, you absolutely must reply over the weekend.

The Secondary school musical ‘You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown’ will start rehearsals next week. Act I read through is scheduled for Monday 21st at 3:15 and Act II on Wednesday 23rd at 4:15 in year 6A classroom. Please be ready by highlighting your part prior to the read through.
Band Auditions
We are looking for musicians to act as substitutes for our school bands. If you would like to audition, please sign your name on the sheet outside the music room. We’ll announce time and date of auditions next week.
Stingray Swimming Academy
All students who were in the Stingray Swimming Academy in Term 1 are invited to join training every Monday from 3:30-4:30 pm. We hope to make a strong swimming team that can represent HeadStart! Remember that transportation is provided to FunStart but students must be picked up from FunStart at 4:30 pm.

ประชุมผู้ปกครอง Year 11 และ Year 12
การประชุมปกครอง ระดับชั้น Year 11 และ Year 12 เป็นการประชุมที่สำคัญ เนื่องจากคุณครูจะเตรียมผลการสอบทดลอง IGCSE ในการประชุมให้ผู้ปกครองทราบด้วย เพื่อเป็นข้อมูลการวางแผนการศึกษาต่อให้นักเรียน การประชุมจะจัดขึ้นในวันพุธที่ 23 มกราคม 2013 ตั้งแต่เวลา 15:00 น. ถึง 16:00 น. ผู้ปกครองท่านใดที่ยังไม่ส่งใบตอบรับที่ทางโรงเรียนได้ส่งไป ขอความกรุณาตอบกลับภายในวันสุดสัปดาห์นี้
** ขอความร่วมมือเรื่องอาหารว่างของนักเรียน**
ทางโรงเรียนต้องการแจ้งให้ทราบอีกครั้งว่า เราเห็นความสำคัญของอาหารเพื่อสุขภาพ ดังนั้นขอความกรุณาผู้ปกครองหากต้องการให้นักเรียนนำของว่างมาโรงเรียน ขอให้เป็นของว่างที่มีน้ำตาล และเกลือต่ำ ในตอนเช้าคุณครูชั้น Year 1-3 จะเก็บรวบรวมของว่างที่นักเรียนนำมา แล้วจะให้นักเรียนเมื่อถึงเวลาพัก ของว่างที่คุณครูพิจารณาแล้วว่าไม่ดีต่อสุขภาพ คุณครูจะเก็บไว้และจะคืนให้ในตอนเย็น นักเรียนชั้น Year 4-6 เราจะอนุญาติให้นักเรียนเก็บของว่างไว้ในกระเป๋าของตัวเองได้ แต่ควรให้คุณครูประจำชั้นตรวจดูก่อนในเวลาพัก อย่างไรก็ตาม เราต้องการให้นักเรียนรู้จักการแบ่งปัน ขอบพระคุณที่เข้าใจและให้ความร่วมมือเป็นอย่างดีมาโดยตลอด
ข่าวสารจากทีมวงดนตรี
วงดนตรีระดับมัธยมศึกษา “You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown” จะเริ่มฝึกซ้อมเต็มวงในสัปดาห์หน้า รอบแรกจะเริ่มในวันจันทร์ที่ 21 มกราคม 2013 เวลา 15.15 น. และรอบที่สองจะเริ่มในวันพุธที่ 23 มกราคม 2013 เวลา 16.15 น. ที่ห้อง Year 6A
รับสมัครนักดนตรี
เปิดรับสมัครนักดนตรีเข้าร่วมวงดนตรีของโรงเรียน นักเรียนที่สนใจสามารถลงชื่อในใบลงชื่อหน้าห้องดนตรี โรงเรียนจะแจ้งวันและเวลาในการคัดเลือกจากการแสดงความสามารถทางดนตรีของนักเรียนในสัปดาห์หน้า
วันครูแห่งชาติประจำปี 2556
ขอแสดงความยินดีกับครูจอยที่ได้รับรางวัล “ครูดีศรีภูเก็ต” ในงานวันครูแห่งชาติประจำปี 2556 จัดโดยคุรุสภา ณ หอประชุมใหญ่ มหาวิทยาลัยราชภัฎภูเก็ต
ทีมว่ายน้ำ Stingray ของโรงเรียน
นักเรียนที่กำลังเรียนอยู่กับ ครูเอมี่ในเทอมนี้ ขอให้มาฝึกซ้อมในทุกวันจันทร์ ตั้งแต่เวลา 15.30 น.-16.30 น. ทางโรงเรียนต้องการสร้างทีมว่ายน้ำเพื่อเข้าแข่งขันกับภายนอก และจะมีรถรับส่งจากที่โรงเรียนไปยังฟันสตาร์ท โดยจะรับกลับจากฟันสตาร์ทเวลา 16.30 น.ตรง
