Grace Villa Foundation Fundraiser

Year 9 worked incredibly hard last week fundraising for Grace Villa. There were a huge amount of different events for students, teachers and parents to get involved with that were all student planned and run. It was a huge success! We are still waiting for the final numbers however we can say for sure that we beat our target of 30,000 Baht by a long long way! Basketball News

On Wednesday the 30th of May, HeadStart’s Senior Girls Basketball Team, lead by Coach Ball, played a friendly match against the Phuket Wittalayai School. The team did a great job, leading throughout most of the game. It was a very competitive match which ended up in a draw 25-25, the pictures show a 28 - 25 score but the three point shot at the end of the game by Pee did not count. We thought we would leave it in the picture as although, we did not technically win, it felt like a win! Well done to all the girls that played, they’ve trained very hard leading up to this and their hard work has definitely been paying off!’ Written by Natasha Chaoemtoem in Year 12

Swimming News

Next weekend, June 9, the Aqua Panthers will have their last league meet at Thanyapura! We have 58 athletes signed up for this final competition and we are looking to claim victory for the year. Competition starts at 8 am and expected to finish by 12 pm. See you poolside! By Coach Brown

Foundation News

Ms Fiona Scott, Deputy Head of Foundation

A warm welcome back to our final half term. We have a busy few weeks ahead of us so please keep an eye on your emails, the school Facebook page and website for all our news and events.

Absent Children

Can I please remind all parents to contact the school office or drop the Homeroom Teacher an email if your child will be absent, it only takes a minute and we do treat all absences and sickness with the utmost importance. Thank you.

Reception Graduation

To celebrate our Reception children graduating from Foundation and moving into Primary, we would like to invite all Reception parents to a mini - graduation ceremony which will take place in the Sports Hall on Tuesday 26th June, 8.30am - 9.00am. This will be a lovely occasion and the perfect opportunity to wish them all the very best in their next phase of the HeadStart learning journey.

Reception Transition

Our Reception transition is well underway and our children had lots of fun this week taking their first steps into Year 1. With the opportunity to explore the classrooms, meet some new teachers and join in with some Year 1 lessons, the children certainly enjoyed their first of three transition mornings.

Foundation Stars of the Week

A big well done to Assena, Taisiya, Pokpong, Chaewon, Will and Pun in Reception for making a super start back to school after the mid term break.

In Early Years, our Stars of the Week are Thamas, Wansuk, Yasmine and Yugeon - Well done for making such such a positive start back to school.

Preschool students are doing Music and Movement in P.E. The children are now confidently and competently able to move at speed. When the lessons are fun everybody is keen to join in! Ms Fiona Whittaker

Early Years did a variety of messy play activities including recreating ‘Starry Night’ by Van Gogh, playing with moon sad, making moon crater footprints and playing with non-Newtonian ‘gloop’! Fantastic work and exploration Early Years. Ms Holly and Ms Saki

Reception Blue have enjoyed the last few days o their superhero theme. We did super number formation in our house teams for house points as well as using our super muscles to see how many bricks we could lift. We used the term “one more” to see I they could lift one more brick. We liked the superhero theme the most out of all we have done this year. Ms Candice Smithie

Year 3 are learning unusual water skills. The students work at different levels when diving, preparing to dive off the block. Perfecting a dive, gaining height and distance, making sure the finger tips enter the water first. A special mention to Patrick who always remembers his googles, which is an important part of the swimming kit. Ms Fiona Whittaker

Here’s what Year 4 have been doing in their Humanities this week: WW2 - The Blitz!

During the Lego after school activity the children designed and built their dream city. Mr Toribio Fabila

Last Thursday and Friday, Year 6 embarked on their first-ever residential visit, staying overnight at the lush Adventure Mountain Club in Phang Nga to celebrate their primary school graduation. There was lots of fun and enjoyment had by all. The range of activities included: swimming, table tennis, pool, team games and artistic performances; but the highlight of the two days was zip-lining! Everybody had a go on at least one of the five zip-lines which passed over the swimming pool and ravine many feet below. All in all this was a great way for the children to mark the ending of their primary schooling.

Here are some quotes from the children:

“I liked the singing!” Theo (6B)

“The zip line was fun!” Emily (6B)

“The best field-trip I’ve been on in my time at HeadStart” Lucky (6Y)

“It was fun to share rooms with others to get to know them better” Dylan (6Y)

Year 8 have been learning the Thai vocabulary for foods we eat. I organised a cooking session with Chef and we learned how to cook Por-Pia-Tord (Vegetable Spring rolls). They were very yummy and it was a fun activity! A big thank you to Chef who has demonstrated how to cook. Kru Gen

The HeadStart Radio Club went on the air for the last time this school year with a special all about exciting events at the school. We had some of the HeadStart’s Got Talent winners as special guests. Thanks for joining us, Dasha, Stella, Juno, Mika and Eva! You were great. It was a totally unscripted, conversational show, and our radio club members did great talking about swim tournaments, the swimathon, HeadStart’s Got Talent, Addams Family and Super Stan, Charlie’s Angels and more. They’ll be back next school year for more exciting shows. Mr Joel Adams
