Hi! My name is Alex Bell and I am the homeroom teacher for Year 5 Blue for this academic year. After a brief time back teaching in my home country of the UK in 2019-20, I joined HeadStart in August 2020 and felt right at home from day one! I am passionate about contributing to the education and development of all the children at HeadStart and take great pride and pleasure in being an integral member of the school community. I actually moved to Phuket for the first time way back in 2001 as a PADI Scuba Diving Instructor, and returned to live on this magical island for the first time in 15 years! In the intervening years, I lived and taught in two far flung corners of Thailand – Sisaket in the north-east and Chiang Mai in the north. I completed my PGCE in the UK in 2011 and worked as a Year 5 and 6 teacher at a British International School in Chiang Mai until the summer of 2019. My more than twenty years in Thailand has enabled to me pursue my great passions of exploration and experience, something I hope to share with everyone in the HeadStart community, especially the children. I strongly believe that children learn best when they can make connections to their everyday experiences. I make every effort to ensure that learning both in and out of the classroom is holistic, creating lifelong learners who value the world they live in and the people around them. I trust that we will all work hard, make great memories and have a lot of laughs on our learning journey together!
