Saturday Thai Culture Club (at Chaofah City Campus)
Let’s start our first term with fun activities. We would like to invite students and parents from Early Years to Year 6 from our Cherngtalay campus to join our unique program provided for everybody who wants to know more about Thai Culture. Our first Saturday Thai Culture Club will take place on Saturday 23rd September 2023 at our Chaofah City campus. If you are interested in participating in these programs, please feel free to contact your child’s Thai teacher at school.
Foundation Stay & Play Sessions
Stay & Play sessions at Headstart International School hold significant importance within the Foundation department. These sessions promote parental involvement, allowing parents to actively engage with their child’s development, foster social skills, understand play-based learning and build trust with the school community. Stay-and-play also supports the gradual independence of children, helps develop important early learning skills, and boosts confidence, ensuring a positive start to each child’s educational journey.
Dates and times for our next Foundation Stay & Play sessions can be found in the poster below.
Share Your Child’s Success
We would like to celebrate exceptional students whose achievements reach beyond the classroom. If you would like to share your child’s success with us, and with the wider community, please scan the QR code below to fill out the form. Each week, during our Monday morning Flag Raising assembly, we will share this success with our school community, giving your child the chance to share their achievements with their friends and peers. We can also keep the community informed through our Facebook page, creating a wave of support and empowerment for the student.
Parent Meetings & Presentations |
Parent Meeting 3: Introduction to the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Curriculum
It was great to see so many Foundation parents join us for our third parent meeting of the school year. Miss Danielle talked parents through our EYFS Curriculum, explaining the 7 areas of learning and 17 Early Learning Goals. She also highlighted the importance of play and child-centred learning and introduced Tapestry, our brand new online learning observation platform, which enables parents to closely follow their child’s progress.

Exploring Creativity in Early Years
The Early Years class have been having a great time settling into their new learning environment! This past week, they explored various creative tools and materials like paints, cutting, and pasting paper. They also made fruit bowls inspired by the story, “Handa’s Surprise.” It was a fun week!

Being Inquisitive and Collaborative in Year 4
In Science, Year 4 have been learning about Tooth Decay. We inquisitively carried out an investigation into which types of liquids cause the most damage to our teeth, contributing to tooth decay. The shell of an egg is similar to the enamel of our teeth, so we will observe the changes to the egg shells in various liquids over the next week. The students were responsible and enthusiastic scientists and worked collaboratively to carry out their investigation fairly. We are excited to see if our predictions are correct!
Building Resilience and Independence in our Writing in Year 6
In Year 6 this week, we have been writing diaries based on a character from ‘The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane’. This lesson was all about editing and improving our writing and I was blown away by the resilience and independence the children showed. They were so determined to edit any mistakes but also to go above and beyond, deepening the content and improving their vocabulary and sentence structures. The sky’s the limit for these budding authors -watch this space! - Mr Wakefield, Year 6 Homeroom Teacher
R U OK? Day
By taking the time for an R U OK? conversation and genuinely listening with an open mind, we can all help the people in our world feel supported and connected.
We celebrated R U OK? Day 2023 by reminding ourselves that every day is the day to ask, ‘are you OK?’ and start a meaningful conversation whenever we spot the signs that someone we care about might be struggling with life.
