Welcome to HeadStart International School, Phuket! A school where education really does come first. As the school’s founder and Director I have always operated with the belief that the most important aspect and resource of our school is our teachers. Our team of dedicated, professional and caring teachers makes HeadStart the energetic, challenging, successful and nurturing environment that it is today. At HeadStart, your child will become part of the unique, multicultural learning environment and community which our school provides. Our goals and objectives are clear and steadfast: Dedicated, qualified, experienced and inspired teachers. The Cambridge curriculum and assessments. A central location with adequate teaching facilities and equipment. As a father of five boys I appreciate that finding the right school at the right price is also an important issue when choosing a school for your child. We are committed to providing a wholesome teaching and learning environment for our students and achieving high academic results combined with an affordable price.

Dear Parents and members of the HeadStart Community,

Our school continues to grow from strength to strength. The outstanding results and university placements that our students achieved in the June exams, the 14 Top in Thailand awards, and our first Top in the World award in the Cambridge Learner Awards are a significant demonstration of the success of our academic programmes and the quality of the learning experience which our team has consistently been able to provide. We now have a total teaching staff of 134 teachers and our student enrollment is at 905 students from 48 nationalities. Many of our classes are now full and we had over 150 students on waiting lists at the start of this academic year. As you know, Phuket continues to be an attractive place for new families in South East Asia to relocate to and call home and so now is a good time for us to move forward with our plans to build the new International College at our current site as well as our new school campus in Cherngtalay.

When we first built and opened this school campus in 2015, the total project cost was 650 million Baht and this was funded by our shareholders, through bank loans as well as by many members of our school community investing to buy Preferred Shares in our school. We are now finalising the funding for this next chapter in our school’s development and we would like our parent community to invest to make these projects possible. As a brief summary, the preferred shares allow investors to buy and own shares in our school. The minimum investment is 1 million Thai Baht and the shares have a fixed dividend schedule for 10 years at an average of 8% return per year.

We would like to invite you to a presentation at HeadStart at 8.15 am on November 9th in the Secondary Hall. We will give you more details about our projects, how these will benefit your children’s education and how you can invest and profit from this unique opportunity. If you plan to attend this presentation, please take a moment to confirm your attendance here by clicking here!

HeadStart International College

This new college building will allow us to expand and develop our academic programmes for students from 14 - 18 years old. We have the facilities to accommodate 72 students per Year/Grade from Years 1 - 11 but only 30 students in Years 12 - 13. We currently have 72 students in Year 10 and we need to expand our Year 12 and 13 classes. The college building we have designed will allow us to introduce new subjects to our curriculum and also includes a state-of-the-art library and resource center and a new Aquatics Center with a 50-meter pool. Click here for HeadStart International College Design Plans.

HeadStart North

The first phase of this new school will be built to accommodate 200 Foundation and Primary students and will eventually be expanded to have a secondary school. Click here for HeadStart North Design Plans.

Student Leadership

The Student Leadership Team are a key part of the culture at HeadStart and have expanded rather dramatically over the last few years. They oversee whole school events like the recent Halloween Disco. They run Lunch Bunch (activities for all Secondary students) every lunchtime. They have a huge amount of energy and seek to develop the sense of community at HSI through creating opportunities to connect students. Each Prefect is connected to a Homeroom. Through Lunch Bunch and the links with Homerooms they seek to foster vertical relationships in the school so younger students have older students to refer to whether as models or support when they need it.

We also have Heads of Committee who are committed to developing specific aspects of the school. We have an Eco Committee, Student Welfare committee, Service committee, House Activities Committee. All of these committees seek to serve the students of Headstart and to continue to develop the school’s provision and culture to make this a better school for the student community. -Ms Bedi, Head of Sixth Form

Student News

Congratulations to Karina in Year 4, Rene in Year 3, Amari, Pokpong and Jan in Year 5 for being nominated Library Monitors this term. Their job is to act as role models to all students and show them how to behave in the library, as well as to support general inquiries from fellow students.

BTEC

BTEC Business have been working on Unit 4 Planning an Event this term and their focus has been on the execution of the Halloween Disco, working as a collaborative team being allocated to the food and beverages segment. The students carried out market research, held meetings with other stakeholders and were given a budget to manage. They worked alongside the chef purchasing the quantities of food and beverages and from this were able to analyse their break even point and profit forecast. They created a marketing strategy and Gantt chart which supported the planning process and all contributed to selling and offering customer service during the event. Well done for another successful event BTEC Business! -Ms Yardenna Jones
