Parent Survey–Last Call

By now you will have received an email with an invitation to click on a link that takes you through the Parent Survey. Please take a moment out of your busy schedule to complete the survey. The more parents that complete the survey the more feedback we get. Hearing directly from you as the parent gives us valuable feedback on specific ways in which we can improve our children’s education as well as the functionality of the school.

Turn Off Your Engine

It has been noticed that various people leave their engines running in the car park which is just next to the children’s outdoor play area which means they are breathing in toxic fumes as they play. Please be considerate of our young children’s well being and turn off your car engines while in the school parking.

Spandex Shorts Available for Female Students

The Parent Committee voiced concern that young girls wearing skirts were often indecently exposed when in active play and would prefer that the school offer a version of the school skirts that have shorts sewn into them, commonly referred to as ‘skorts.’ After much deliberation, including asking the student’s opinions and making a mock up design, it was agreed that these would be too hot and complicated to make at the moment. We are happy to provide an alternative suggestion and we are pleased to announce that the school shop now offers spandex shorts for our female students at a very low cost. This, of course, is optional and up to each parent’s discretion. Visit the school shop for more information.

Dark Blue P.E. Shorts Available August 2018

You may have noticed that on your Foundation/Primary child’s timetabled P.E. day, you dress your child with crisp white shorts and they come back black and then are very hard to clean. Good News!!! As of August 2018, dark blue shorts will be available for purchase from the school shop.

International Day 2018

Thailand, England, Philippines, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Israel, France, Australia, Sweden, Japan, Taiwan, Ireland, South America and Spain, South Africa, Korea, India, Nepal, China and Russia have all booked tables and/or performances. See the floor plan below.

The Aqua Panthers are hosting a 12 Hour Relay fundraiser for the Life House Project Foundation. We are collecting funds so they can replace their roof before the wet season. Join us in this exciting event for a good cause! By Coach Zak Brown

Eco / Energy Week

Next Saturday 24th March, the global event Earth Hour will take place at 8.30pm.

Next week in school we will raising energy awareness and hosting our Earth Hour on Friday morning between 8.00 - 9.00am. We will also be reminding all teachers and students to turn off the electricity when they leave the classrooms during break time and lunch times. Our Primary Eco Team will also be focusing on our Eco garden and setting up a plant pot station. Any parents who have any gardening tools or accessories that they no longer use and would like to donate, please contact [email protected] to find out more details.

The Amazing Adventures of Superstan

On Friday March 9th, the primary CAPA academy presented The Amazing Adventures of Superstan, an action packed, fun-for-all production, filled with hilarious jokes and catchy songs. Years 4, 5 and 6 performed with enthusiasm, along with the junior academy students, for hundreds of happy parents. Congratulations to all who worked extremely hard to make this another very successful production at HeadStart. The Creative Arts department is very proud of our juniors, who already show so much potential and talent.

Wishing Good Luck to our World Scholars

This Saturday, 17th March, nine World Scholar’s Cup Juniors will travel to Bangkok to compete in this year’s Regional Round. Eight of our students are entirely New to the programme and are excited about the opportunity.

They are: Narissa Oesten (Y08 Blue), Neeta Mettapanyalert (Y08 Yellow), Denis Solodkov (Y08 Blue), Mimi Ngernanek (Y08 Blue), Sasha Syrkina (Y08 Yellow), Anastasia Buneeva (Y09 Blue), Vitalina Oshchepkova (Y08 Yellow), Nutcha Phaisamran (Y09 Yellow), Alicia Martin (Y08 Yellow)

The students will compete in team events such as: Scholar’s Bowl, Collaborative Writing, Scholar’s Challenge and the Team Debate. I’m sure you will join us in wishing them every success and look forward to hearing all about it in the next Weekly Update.

Primary Eco Trip

This week the Primary Eco Team went to visit the Phuket Farmers Club in Phaklok. During the morning, the Eco Team were given a tour of the gardens and learnt about some of the fruits and vegetables that grow easily in Thailand. They took part in a gardening workshop which including making plant pots from recycled paper and how to take care of seeds, including how and when to water them. The children explored the wormeries and discovered why worms are so important to our Eco system and finally at the end of the morning the team were given time to sample some tasty treats, delicious homemade jams and syrups, made by the Phuket Farmers.

This week the Preschool children are learning all about Space. They have enjoyed taking part in different Space activities indoors and outdoors. Next week we may even take a trip to the moon! ** By Ms Danielle**

This week the Early Years children have been enjoying our new Transport & Travel topic. We made and flew our own hot air balloons, learnt all about different types of buses and learnt about how to keep ourselves safe on or near roads. The children have had lots of fun using their imaginations during their free play activities too! By Ms Holly & Ms Erika
