Join our University Counsellors for an informal chat, personalised advice, and valuable insights to help plan your child’s pathway to leading universities around the world.

Thank you to all the parents who joined this week's UPrep Talk, "Your Child's 5-Year Plan." We explored how to support students from Year 10 to Year 13 by fostering independence, balancing academics with extracurriculars, and making informed choices for their future pathways. Key topics included using Unifrog for career exploration, standardized testing, and understanding university timelines and costs. We appreciate your continued partnership in helping our students confidently step into their futures!

Guiding students through vibrant cultural traditions, language fluency, and personal growth, the HeadStart Thai Department warmly welcomes our community to a new academic year. Throughout the year, our dedicated Thai management and teaching staff take pride in organising foundational cultural ceremonies. By leading celebrations such as Wai Kru, Loy Krathong, Songkran, our termly Thai Culture Club and Thai Etiquette Competition, the team ensures students engage authentically with the traditions of our host country and develop a grounded respect for Thai heritage.

Beyond these school-wide events, the department delivers comprehensive language instruction alongside highly attentive pastoral care. By offering dedicated lesson options for Thai as a First and Foreign Language, as well as an IGCSE Thai programme for Years 10–11, the team ensures that both our Thai and non-Thai students effectively learn the language and culture of their island home. In the classroom, teachers provide structured individual support to help students master Thai literacy, build cross-cultural understanding, and develop confidence in a nurturing environment. We extend our deepest gratitude to our Thai team for their unwavering dedication to our students and look forward to the rich learning experiences they will provide this year.

Our Key Stage 3 artists have truly outdone themselves by transforming their big ideas into a spectacular Art Exhibition in the Attrium! We are thrilled to celebrate the opening and see the wonderful painting, printing, and sculpture created by Year 7, 8, and 9. A massive congratulations to our talented students, and a big thank you to the CAPA team for making it happen. The exhibition remains open until Wednesday 23 September, so please come explore the displays and discover the unique techniques behind each piece!

This week, the children have been busy exploring the concept of '1 less'. They loved getting hands-on with different resources, representing numbers in creative ways to make sense of the maths. Working in small groups, the students did a brilliant job modelling their ideas and helping each other use the right vocabulary. To celebrate their fantastic learning, the lesson finished up with a super fun game of bingo!

As part of HeadStart’s commitment to preparing students for life beyond the classroom, our Year 13 BTEC students travelled to Bangkok for a university experience at the Asian Institute of Hospitality Management (AIHM). During their visit, students experienced a day in the life of an undergraduate, gaining an introduction to hospitality and business management degrees through a combination of theory, practical workshops, and facility tours. Staying at the luxury Avani+ Riverside Bangkok Hotel provided a real-world insight into the type of international environment they could one day work in. The trip helped students see how the leadership, communication, and entrepreneurial skills they are currently developing through their BTEC studies can prepare them for university and open doors across many different industries.

Students also learned about AIHM’s global placement opportunities, including internships in Japan and the Maldives, and the pathway to seamlessly transfer to Les Roches’ prestigious campuses in Switzerland or Spain. This exclusive route unlocks career opportunities with top-tier luxury brands, culminating in a world-renowned Les Roches degree. By experiencing university life first-hand and exploring these international possibilities, our Year 13 students were encouraged to think ambitiously about their next steps and the successful futures their HeadStart education can provide.

We are delighted to congratulate our students on their significant achievements in recent sports and performing arts competitions, representing HeadStart with pride on both local and international stages!

• Mountain (2 White): Earned two gold medals and one silver medal in the speed punch and speed kick categories at the RDC Phuket Taekwondo competition.
• Bright (4 Blue): Was crowned the winner in the Taekwondo speed kick competition at RDC Phuket.
• Elina (5 Blue): Won two bronze medals in the 25m and 50m breaststroke for the Girls 9-10 category at the Night Waves Thanyapura Sports competition.
• Freya (2 Yellow): Won the Champion title in the mini pom pom competition at Cheer Phuket. Additionally, Freya secured 1st Place with a Platinum Award in the Public Online Mini Jazz Dance Solo category at The Glamorous Dance Championship!
• Nathan (5 Yellow): Achieved 2nd place in the U10 Male category at the Student, Youth, and Public Sports Competition 2026, organised by the Phuket Provincial Office of Tourism and Sports.
