Announcements
We are delighted to announce the results of our 2024 IGCSE, A/AS Level and BTEC cohorts!
With 37% of our IGCSE students receiving A-A grade, 90% of students receiving A- C grades and an overall pass rate of 99.6%, we couldn’t be prouder of last year’s Year 11 cohort.
At AS Level, the highest possible grade is an A and 35% of all Year 12 entries obtained this level. For the full A Level, 28% of our Year 13 students obtained A* or A grades. Overall, a highly impressive 87% of our Year 12 and 13 students received A*-C grades at A and AS Level.
Our BTEC cohorts have consistently obtained fantastic results but the improvement seen this year has surpassed everyone’s expectations. Our Year 12 BTEC students saw 39% of entries awarded a Distinction* or Distinction. Meanwhile, our Year 13 students took it to the next level with a barely believable 72% of BTEC grades awarded a Distinction* or Distinction.
A big congratulations to each individual student for pushing themselves throughout the year to obtain the best grades possible!

Whether taking part in one of our many extra-curricular activities or school programmes, or developing a lifelong passion outside school, our students frequently demonstrate that they are inspired by a love of learning. Each week, we have the opportunity to celebrate these successes as a community both at our Monday morning flag raising ceremony and through our various social media channels.

Upcoming Events
UPrep Talk #2 - Your Child’s 5 Year Plan
We understand that supporting your children through the university application process can be a nerve-wracking experience and at HeadStart we would like to offer our support to you as parents. We will be offering a series of workshops designed to inform and support parents through the stages of university application processes. The second of these workshops will walk parents through the 5 year plan that we recommend all students and their parents follow to ensure success. The talk will be held from 8:30 - 9:20 am on Wednesday 11th September, in the Secondary Hall (on the 4th floor).
We will also be offering informal drop-in sessions every other week (the next takes place on Wednesday 18th September). These will be held in the Nikita’s cafe downstairs at the same time (8:30 - 9:20 am). Our two Guidance Counsellors, Mr Roscoe [email protected] and Mr Thomas [email protected] will be available at this time.

Parent Meeting: HeadStart Curriculum for Thai Parents on Tuesday 10th September
The Thai Management Team would like to invite our Thai-speaking parents into school on Tuesday 10th September from 08:30 - 09:30 am in the Secondary Hall (on the 4th Floor) for a parent meeting. The topic will be ‘HeadStart Curriculum’. We will share the information of how your child is taught and will give you the opportunity to understand how HeadStart ensures our curriculums are followed to a high standard in order to give you a deeper understanding of the programmes offered. The meeting will be presented in Thai language.

Scaling New Heights with HeadStart Climbing Club!
HeadStart Climbing Club kicked off its first week with students scaling new heights, both literally and figuratively. With a mix of determination and excitement, everyone had a blast as they took on the walls for the first time. We can’t wait to see how much further they’ll climb in the weeks ahead! Exciting News from our Russian Language Teaching Team
We are excited to announce the excellent results our students achieved in the Edexcel GCSE Russian exam! We are proud that most of our students reached the maximum score, demonstrating strong knowledge of the subject. Playing Bingo! in Year 2 French Lessons
The Year 2 French students have been playing number bingo, a fun educational game to strengthen their counting skills. They are already doing great, learning to count up to 30. This activity is part of our current topic: age! Mr Pierre - Primary French Teacher

Secrets of Science: Uncovering Hidden Messages with Chemistry
At the Science Investigators Club with Dr. Cardall, our members recently embarked on an exciting exploration into the world of chemistry and secrecy! They crafted hidden messages using special chemicals that only revealed their secrets under the glow of a Bunsen burner. This exciting activity not only bolstered their confidence in handling laboratory equipment but also nurtured their inquisitive spirits. By delving beyond the standard curriculum, these young scientists are discovering new ways to satisfy their curiosity and expand their understanding of the scientific world. As we anticipate next week’s science ECAs, we are excited to see our Headstart scientists continue to unravel the fascinating mysteries of science in the most engaging ways!
English Department
In the English & EAL Faculty, it is important to us to build on our results every year by innovating and refining our practice. The ‘Unseen’ part of the AS Literature exam always represents a significant challenge to students. This year, the Year 12 AS class have been working on constructing theses to essays in a different, more detailed way which makes them better able to apply their knowledge of generic conventions and develop the depth of their interpretations. It’s important not to throw the baby out with the bathwater however, and The Wall Game has endured, helping students build up a repository of knowledge to apply judiciously to their written responses. BTEC News
BTEC Business and Travel & Tourism students attended the annual PHIST event on Monday at Angsana, Phuket. The event is an innovative event rallying businesses, the hotel industry and its stakeholders to discuss environmental sustainability and community benefit. The students networked with industry professionals, participated in educational workshops, and deepened their understanding of sustainability in tourism. The event featured interactive sessions on eco-friendly practices and innovative solutions, equipping students with valuable knowledge for their future careers. Through networking, they connected with industry leaders, gaining insights and potential opportunities. The experience left the students inspired and committed to contributing to a more sustainable future in tourism and hospitality. The BTEC students connected with like-minded professionals, local farmers, and non-profit organizations while enjoying lively networking activities.
