Meetings & Presentations

Year 9 Options Parent Meeting and Options Fair

On Wednesday 8th January, parents of Year 9 students from Cherngtalay joined their colleagues at Chaofah City campus for a presentation given by Mr Wakeford and Dr Marsh on the IGCSE Options process at HeadStart. Following this, parents joined their children to attend the Options Fair, where they met with the teachers and guidance counsellors at our Chaofah City campus who will take responsibility for their educational journey next academic year. It was a great opportunity to discuss details of the syllabuses and curriculums, as well as a chance to meet fellow Year 9 students. Guiding students to make the right decisions for their future is central to HeadStart’s mission of “Inspiring a love of learning”. Further conversations with teachers and Senior Leaders will be happening throughout the year.

If you were unable to attend the Options Parent Meeting, or would like to review the content, please find a copy of the presentation below.

Keira Brain – Class of 2023

Keira is currently working for Airbus in the UK as a Business Management Degree Apprentice, and will graduate with an Applied Business Degree in the summer of 2026.

Keira’s role entails working 4 days a week in various business roles across the Airbus Operations and Management departments, rotating between areas on a 3-monthly basis. For the 5th day, she attends a Swansea University degree course where she will qualify for a BSc degree after 3 years of study. She is thoroughly enjoying the variation of roles across the company, and is given responsibility to undertake various projects whilst learning about the wider company and its numerous suppliers and business contacts. Keira has already undertaken travel to meet suppliers and is receiving excellent feedback from all her department managers.

Keira always loved managing projects within the HeadStart community and was inspired to go into Business Management based on her duties as Head Girl at HeadStart during the academic year 2022-23.

Welcome Back to Term 2!

It was great to see so many smiling faces back at school this week. Our Foundation classrooms were brimming with smiles and laughter as our youngest learners continued their journey through play.

With the winter sun shining, the children also took the opportunity to catch up with friends, old and new, in the Foundation Playground. We are all looking forward to a term full of sunshine, happiness, laughter and friendship!

Year 4 Embark on a Journey to Incredible India!

This week, our Year 4 students embarked on an exciting journey into their latest Humanities unit, Incredible India! They began their learning by creating vibrant rangoli designs and dived into a fact-finding hunt, discovering fascinating details about India’s geographical features and rich culture. Their curiosity has been ignited, and they can’t wait to explore more about this incredible country in the weeks ahead! Mrs Cotterell and Mr Frenna – Year 4 Teachers

Secondary

Getting Ready for Programming in Year 7

Year 7 Yellow started their new Computing unit this week: Programming, in which they are going to learn about and use Kodu and Small Basic. To start off the unit and get them in the ‘programming zone’, the students were able to choose a famous programmer to research their achievements and what they are well known for. They then had a great time presenting to the rest of class! Ms Manning – Assistant Head of Secondary

Parent Fitness Information

HeadStart provides complimentary use of the Fitness Gym for parents every weekday morning from 07:30-09:30 and in the afternoon from 14:30-18:00. The gym is available strictly for the HeadStart parents and is not open for members of the public unless specifically organised as part of an event.

Parents are asked to vacate all facilities (including the changing rooms in the Fitness Gym) by 9:30am as students may need to use the facilities for their lessons. The gym and the fitness studio is reserved for our students during all other hours of the school day as part of their P.E curriculum.

Classes are run by our fully qualified fitness instructors between 8:00-9:00am. To join, simply sign the list at the entrance of the gym or speak to one of the trainers.
