New One-way Traffic Management System to Start Monday 8th September
Starting on Monday 8th September, we will reverse the flow of the current one-way traffic system – a trial that will last 2 weeks. This is based on feedback from our parent community and observations by our Senior Management and Security team. The one-way system will operate from 06:00-10:00 and 14:00-19:00, Monday to Friday. Between 10:00-14:00, the lower gate will be closed; visitors should access the school via the Security gate.
The new one-way system (see graphic below) will entail entering the school site via the lower road that runs along the side of the astro-pitch and swimming pool. Vehicles will then be directed to parking under building A or the external car park for parents wishing to enter our Foundation & Primary Building, to the main entrance for Foundation & Primary drop-off, or to our Secondary drop-off and parking area. The existing traffic flows will continue in the external parking and Secondary parking lots. Exiting the school site will be via the top road that passes the security gates. Our Security teams will be in position to direct you.
We sincerely appreciate your patience and cooperation as we attempt to resolve issues around parking and traffic flow at our Cherngtalay campus.

Academy News
Changes to how our Sports Academy Teams Communicate
Please note that our Sports Academy teams will be moving away from using the LINE App for communicating with parents. Over the next month, we will be transferring over to WhatsApp Channels – a dedicated channel for each of our three academies. We will use these channels for immediate notifications and reminders as well as media from matches, meets and competitions. We will continue to post updates to our LINE Apps during this time (closing on 3o September). This transfer is already underway – scan the relevant QR code below or visit our display boards at school.
The reasons for this change are:
📢 Messaging Power
- All media types are supported: text, photos, videos, voice notes, polls, links, documents.
🔔 Notifications & Visibility
- Parents can turn on alerts if they want instant notifications, but by default updates don’t overwhelm.
📂 Organization & History
-
Messages stay in a chronological, permanent feed, easy for parents to revisit.
-
Parents can scroll back through the full channel history to catch anything they missed.
🌍 Ease of Use
-
Parents simply click “Follow” and they’re in.
-
Parents can share the channel link/QR easily, so adding new members/followers is easy.

The Enormous Crocodile Pays Year 2 a Visit
So far this term, Year 2 have been reading the story of ‘The Enormous Crocodile’ by Roald Dahl. This week was filled with excitement as we found out that the enormous crocodile was coming to HeadStart! As you might imagine, the children were a little nervous and when the crocodile did arrive, everyone was on tenterhooks! Fortunately, Mr Lawler, our Head of Foundation & Primary, just managed to escape the crocodile’s jaws. Year 2 had such a fun time and luckily no-one was eaten…not even Mr Lawler! The Year 2 Team

Secondary Head Girl and Head Boy for 2025-26: Noumea and Fionn
During Monday morning’s flag raising, the HeadStart Cherngtalay community was introduced to our new Secondary Head Girl and Head Boy. Here’s what the have to say:
“Hi, I’m Noumea and I couldn’t be more excited about my role as Head Girl. I can’t wait to collaborate with the Secondary students to make our campus an even better environment for everyone. I’m always happy to hear feedback and ideas from others so feel free to speak with me whenever you’d like!”
“Hello, I am Fionn from Year 9, and I’m really looking forward to being Head Boy this year. It’s a role I feel very proud and excited to take on, and I want to make sure I do it well. I will try my best to help everyone I can, whether it’s listening to your ideas, supporting you with concerns, or simply being someone you can talk to. My goal is to make our school experience even better by encouraging teamwork, positivity, and making sure everyone feels included. I can’t wait to get started and work together with all of you this year!”
We wish both Noumea and Fionn a highly successful and enjoyable year in their role. The Secondary Leadership Team
