At HeadStart our concept of a complete and balanced Physical Education and Sports programme means providing all children with a wide range of athletics, games and activities in a fun and safe environment, delivered and taught by world-class professionals, coaches and experts in their fields. This allows students to develop their interest and skills in physical activity and sport and to further focus their talents and abilities towards specialist skills as they advance year by year through the school. HeadStart delivers a three phase approach to Sport and Fitness Development.
Physical Education (PE) Curriculum
In order to inspire a love of sport and physical activity, and to ensure our children are motivated to actively keep themselves healthy, the first thing that has to be right is the PE Curriculum that the school provides. With that in mind we have introducing a very broad and balanced PE and games curriculum in line with the English National curriculum from Pre-School right through to our Sixth Form form students.
PE lessons begin in Foundation with the essential acquirement of important life and survival skills such as Swimming and the physical literacy of fine motor skills that develop at these early stages. As your child moves through Key Stages 1 and 2 a broad range of sports and athletics taught by specialist teachers is delivered along with regular whole school events, house competitions and sporting tournaments and events between other schools on the island of Phuket and beyond.
Our dedicated team of ten PE and Sports Coaching staff who deliver the PE curriculum, along with our excellent facilities, mean we are able to provide an outstanding Physical Education program for all of our students across all year groups. Throughout an academic year our students will now experience a wide range of 12 activities including:
- Swimming
- Football
- Dance and Movement
- Gymnastics
